Tori Amos 5

So three of us went to this particular show. Myself I’m a veteran fan of 15 years. Jessica is a fan of about 8 years and our friend Marie a new fan as of this year. Here’s my feelings of how the night went. The venue is set in a tall building in lovely downtown. It had a parking garage inside the building which was very narrow. This is not good if you tend to be claustrophobic. We did however survive that part. Copley Hall itself is a beautiful venue. The inside was very ornate in a Victorian-like setting. The seating was plush and even though we were up top on the mezzanine level there was not a single bad seat in the house. Read the rest of this entry »

HINDER ROCKED!!!

HINDER
HOUSE OF BLUES – LAS VEGAS
12/04/2007

What a great photo opportunity for The Dead Hub! The show was a rockin’ good time with lots of great guitar solos and 2 new songs to boot. The band is very energetic on stage and threw out guitar picks and set lists to their adoring fans. What did they get in return? BRAS, and lots of them I might add. I didn’t score the set list, but I did manage to walk away with a guitar pick, fantastic photographs, and an awesome adrenaline rush! These guys will be hard to top!

The band member s are as follows:
Austin Winkler – Vocals
Cody Hanson – Drums
Joe “Blower” Garvey – Guitars
Mark King – Guitar
Mike Rodden – Bass Guitar

Casey Calvert

Posted by Yvette Casillas On December - 20 - 2007

Information found on MTV.com, story by James Montgomery

So apparently I have been living under a rock for the past month. I was recently informed that Casey Calvert of Hawthorne Heights has passed. It’s my understanding that this was brought on by the fatal mixture of medications that Casey was on. One was an anti depressant and the other was Vicodin. Apparently the two mixed together causes an inability to manage your airway. A case like this is very rare, only one in several million.

Our hearts go out to Casey’s family and friends.

We arrived at the House of Blues to a small crowd of hardcore fans of Ben Lee (headliner). The lights dimmed the curtains opened to reveal the stripped down stage and three performers.

Motion City Soundtrack

Motion City Soundtrack
House of Blues-Chicago
12/16/07

Sunday night was the final show of the MTVU Tour featuring Motion City Soundtrack w/ special guests Mae, Anberlin, & Metro Station.

I can’t say enough about how much I love MCS, I have seen them a dozen times both here in Chicago and in their home town of Minneapolis. They never disappoint! Sunday night was filled with energy, good times, and strobe lights…pink ones!

Though I have to say I would much rather see MCS at First Avenue than anywhere else. Chuck it up to getting older, although I do blend into the crowd quite nicely. ; ) First Avenue just has a different feel to it… there is a lot of history there, I’m sure it has nothing to do with the balcony being a 21+ area with it’s own bar.

Concert Etiquett: PLEASE READ!!

Posted by Jessica Emmerich On December - 13 - 2007

I had an absolute blast at my first Tori Amos concert last night! Just an absolute fun time, I could gush about for awhile, but that’s what the review will be for and this on the other hand to raise a couple problems that did disturb my concert appreciation last night. The problems involved a select few in the crowd! Read the rest of this entry »

Clear Channel’s Cutbacks

Posted by Yvette Casillas On December - 12 - 2007

Last week during the Drex Morning Show, it was announced that Pete “Petersworth” Gallindo’s position at WKSC-FM (103.5) had been eliminated. The statement came from Earl Jones, President and Marketing Manager of Clear Channel Radio in Chicago . The cut backs in staff came from Clear Channel’s desire to push internet sales in the new year. These positions included but were not limited to Pete “Petersworth” Gallindo’s Producer position, Alexx Dupri’s overnight show, along with an Event Manager from the Promotions Department also was eliminated. To cover some of Dupri’s former hours, Billy Hammond’s late-night show will be extended. The Drex Morning Show will also be extended 1 hour.

Las Vegas Local Favorite Opening for Hinder: Adelita’s Way

Adelita’s Way

Impressed at first sound. That’s how I feel about the Las Vegas local band Adelita’s Way. I must say rock music is absolutely my favorite music category. The night rocked as you can tell by the pictures, and these guys are definitely eye candy. More importantly, their songs rocked along with their stage presence. I believe these guys are on their way to bigger and better things and if you heard it here first you can always listen to the songs they’ve posted to their myspace page. (All of which they performed at the 12/04 House of Blues concert.) Check back for Hinder shots in an upcoming post from that night’s show!!!

The Redwalls – Metro – Chicago

The Redwalls
The Metro – Chicago

12/8/2007

The Redwalls 4

Okay, first off I have to admit that I was not exactly looking forward to watching The Redwalls. Only because they are classified as “Indie rock ‘n roll” and I do not like many bands in that musical genre. BUT, I told myself to go check out their show at the Metro to hear their music and decide for myself if I liked them or not. I got in free, because I intern at the venue and signed up to cover that show. I got a +1, so I brought my friend Ashley who had never heard of this band in her life, but is always up for a free show and came with me. We got there a little late (after they had started) due to the freaking el (train) taking FOREVER (stupid public transportation), but we saw them play for about an hour and 15 minutes. I have to say though, I am now officially a huge fan. Not only because they are from Chicago, or that they played Lollapalooza 2005, or that they live in my neighborhood of Lakeview and do their grocery shopping at the same Jewel-Osco that I shop at….yeah I know, I know…
