Coachella Valley Music Festival
April 25-27th, 2008
When I moved out to California my eyes and ears really opened. As a music fan a cone suer not knowing what the Coachella Music Festival is could be a sin. I am trying to make up for that sin by informing other readers out there what Coachella is so maybe I don’t feel so alone.
Coachella is a music & arts festival that resides in Indio, California at the Empire Polo Fields. It has days of continuous music (3 days to be exact), camping, yes camping, and this year it all happens April 25 -27th.
This years line-up is too long to list, but you can get it here. The headliners include Jack Johnson, The Verve, Portishead, Kraftwerk, Roger Waters, My Morning Jacket, Love And Rockets, and Fat Boys Slim. I really could go on, but really its insanely long.
If you haven’t purchased tickets you maybe out of luck. Single day passes are all sold out. They went for $90 a piece + $1 Charity + Applicable Service Fees. Eeeks!! I don’t like Applicable Service Fees.
If you have the cash or credit, 3 day passes are still available according to their site. That’s if you have $269 + $3 Charity + More of those Lovely Service Charges.
Parking is “Free” I am sure it charged in there somewhere. If you need to camp tickets for camping are $55 per person. There are some insane rules for camping, and some rules are going to be broken. Example, no alcohol. Hmmm….I wonder how many people are going to NOT bring in alcohol in their cooler.
If you aren’t from the area be aware of the weather. The desert can get hot…like 100 degrees and up hot. Bring your sunscreen and towels you are going to need them!
All and all it sounds like a version of Country Thunder minus the Country.
Oh yes, one more comment…At&t Blue Room will be there taping and airing the concerts. Well, that is if they deem that artist politically correct. Remember Pearl Jam at Lolla?
