I cannot stress enough how proud I am of Mariah Carey! I have been one of her #1 fans since the 5th grade when I was 10 years old and first heard Always Be My Baby on the radio. I am now 23 years old and a senior in college and still love this woman, her songwriting skills, and mad vocal chops! God, that voice! Not a day goes by that I do not wish that I could sing like her.
E=MC2 marks Mariah’s sixth #1 album since she came onto the music scene back in 1990 at the ripe old age of 19 years old. Good grief, thinking about that makes me depressed because I have not accomplished anything like Ms. Carey and I am 23! In the album’s first week in stores it sold a whooping 463,000 copies, making it Mariah’s biggest first week sales to date. It also marks 2008’s biggest first week sales of any artist now that she beat out former record holder Jack Johnson.
Oh! I almost forgot to tell you this…
Mariah’s second single, Bye Bye, has a remix version out now featuring JAY-Z! The last time I heard Jay make a cameo on a Mariah hit was back in the Rainbow days with Heartbreaker. I, being Mariah’s biggest fan, went out to Best Buy last Tuesday night when her album came out and bought it. Gotta support my favorite artists! So far I cannot stop listening to my two favorite tracks on the follow-up to The Emancipation of Mimi – Migrate (feat. T-Pain) and I’ll Be Lovin’ U Long Time. If you are like me and not really digging her first single, Touch My Body, PLEASE take the time to listen to the two songs I just mentioned above. They are WAY better. Well, at least I think so and I am her BIGGEST fan, remember?
