Howard Livingston & Mile Marker 24
Blarney Island – Antioch, IL
With songs like “The Smokin’ Song” and “Blame it on the Margaritas” you know you are in for a good time. Howard Livingston & Mile Marker 24 brought Key West to the Midwest for Blarney Island’s Parrot Head Weekend. The beautiful Sunday afternoon was filled with conch blowing, conga lines, and margaritas. This band doesn’t waste any time getting the party started. After the first song, the band brought out their very own homemade Outboard Motor Blender to make specialty Margaritas for everyone while covering Jimmy Buffet’s “Margaritaville.” Their set was a variety of Trop Rock original music with some cover tunes from Van Morrison and Tom Petty. Their music instantly puts you in a beach party mood, even while partying it up in the middle of the Chain O’ Lakes. Their sound is a mixture of Tropical, Rock, and Country. The show was endlessly engaging with additional instruments being added to the mix including the tambourine, cowbell, and a washboard. Listening to Howard Livingston & Mile Marker 24 makes me want to Live on Key West Time.
