Tucked away in the courtyard of Barrington Square Mall Americas Bar is known as the perfect place between upscale & casual while still maintaining that neighborhood atmosphere.
Scenery: The exterior has a plethora of seating to hold a party of 60 to enjoy what’s left of summer or to join in on a round of Bags. The interior glows as soft blue light showers down on you. There is a massive bar that fills the floor with a five foot Statue of Liberty twirling in the center. On the opposite side there is a miniature dance floor surrounded by the DJ area & tables with chairs. There are flat screen TV’s so DJ’s can play videos while they spin. During my after work visit there seemed to be very little variety. It started off with your basic Top 40 but then gradually went into a lot of 80’s with some late 90’s pop tunes. When the DJ started at 10pm we went through it all over again. All the Top 40 songs we just listened to at six o’clock were in rotation again. It was like listening to the radio.
Service: The service was slow and unhelpful. After finishing my first drink it took the bartender 15 minutes to come by and ask me if I wanted another. There were countless times she came over to serve others and completely looked past me. Even when I tried getting her attention there was no such luck. Me and my two friends decided to order some food while sitting up at the bar. We each ordered an appetizer to share; popcorn shrimp, popcorn chicken, & an order of spinach artichoke dip. Now I know their food is fresh & made to order but goodness it took 45 minutes before we got served. And when we did only one order came out. We told the bartender that we were still waiting on our popcorn shrimp & chicken, she said “food comes out as its ready” instead of “oh let me go check on that for you” or something to be a little accommodating.
Parking: There is plenty of parking in this shopping mall lot.
Overall: Getting a drink or some chow at Americas Bar is a long lasting wait. The food was tasty & worth the wait at a reasonable price. The crowd and atmosphere is welcoming and parties til 3am every morning. Majority of the drinks seem a little much for a suburban bar but if you pay attention to the weekly specials you can find a good deal. Speaking of specials here they are:
