She Creatures

The She Creatures are here, their mission: to take over your planet!
Comin’ at you with their highly infectious rockin’ tunes, these Venusian vixens will meld your minds and blast you with their deadly love ray. Inspired by radio waves from 1960’s Earth which only reached Venus last year, they took garage, pop, soul and rock’n’roll and transformed it with their interplanetary energy into sounds that no human can resist.. Bringing you intriguing stories of life on other planets, of space madness, man radars and rocket rides.
The ultra-sexy Nancy Raygun delivers lead vocals and guitar and eats humans for breakfast – cross her and you’ll be begging for mercy! Princess Slayer is the master of the keys – she may look sweet but she will slay any disobedient earthlings. Haley Comet provides pounding bass rhythms and seductive theremin that will entrance all mortals. The bewitching Elektra Statik batters the drums with the power of Godzilla! All this, and adorned in the sexiest of space-girl uniforms, these are space invaders you will welcome

 Slaves to Gravity
Rock music from the heart, for the soul: Muscle meets Melody
Metal Hammer:  “Slaves to Gravity have a definite pedigree……causing a major stir” Nov 2007
Kerrang LIVE Review : Feb 08 “Singer Tommy Gleeson, though slight of frame, is in possession of one of the great voices”………their songcraft is polished and crafted”
Kerrang ALBUM Review:   March 08 “Chest beatingly huge…Anthem after anthem…If there’s any justice Scatter The Crow will make Slaves To Gravity as big as the noise they create”
Kerrang Feature April 08:   “Addictive….think the power of Soundgarden, combined with the kick of Velvet Revolver”
Kerrang May 08:  ” New Grunge. We are not talking about the insipid watered post grunge of Nickelback or Seether- we`re talking of a band with the metallic thunk of Soundgarden, the classic rock sensibilities of Pearl Jam, and the flair of Stone Temple Pilots, yet still able to inject a sense of cocksure vitality that`s all their own. The style is backed by substance throughout. Landslides of riffage- a non stop riffalanche….hooks the size of Peru and a genuine sense of songwriting style. Slaves to Gravity play as if they are playing to thousands – a scenario that`s certainly not beyond the bounds of possibility and one that would suit their huge hooks and huger sound, down to the ground”

The Gala Band
The Gala Band will be playing at SXSW 2009 in Austin Texas as part of US based Misra and Absolutely Kosher Records’ showcase. The invite to showcase followed Absolutely Kosher Records (home  to bands such as Xiu Xiu and +/- {Plus/Minus}) hearing the first three available tracks from the band’s debut album currently being  recorded with the Producer and long time PJ Harvey collaborator,  John Parish.

John Parish is notoriously selective about his projects, but was keen  to produce the band’s, as yet untitled, debut album after hearing  rough home recorded demos and the band’s set at last summer’s  Glastonbury Festival.    The new album moves towards a more expansive, raw and live sound.  While still being driven by the distinctive vocals and piano  of  Hannah  Partington  the  tracks  are  rich  with  warm  acoustics, complex rhythms and harmonies. (First three tracks on Promotional CD)

The Gala Band is the brainchild of Bristol-based alt-folk-pop song  writing partnership Hannah Partington and Ben Baldwin (guitars).   The  partnership  grew  to  a band  when  they  added  Jon  Fisher  (drums) and Dave Colebrook (bass & electric guitar).  The band’s  debut E.P, Little Revelations, produced by Jim Moray (BBC Radio  2 Album of the Year Award 2004, Mojo Folk Album of the Year  2009) was released on Dreamboat Records in September, 2007. The Gala Band completed its first UK tour in 2008 and has supported the likes of Noah and the Whale, Loney Dear (UK tour), Imelda May and The Radar Bros (UK tour).

Rosie and the Goldbug
After an impressive and fast paced 2008, Rosie and The Goldbug bring you their next single ‘Heartbreak’. This soaring nu-pop anthem is a clear example of the band’s impressive song writing and all around pop genius. And with last single ‘You’ve Changed’ hitting number 6 in the club charts it’s likely the kids will be doing just that. As well as this chart success, they can also boast of a European tour with Cyndi Lauper, festival appearances including Latitude and Bestival ticked off the list, XFM and Absolute playlists, and support from 6 Music, Radio 1 and Radio 2 (‘Album of the Week’ on Dermot O Leary). Past videos can be found playlisted on Q, E4, 4 Music and NME TV and the video for ‘Heartbreak’ is expected to be no exception, this video captures the very essence of the fun within the band, featuring them perform in a seventies-style futuristic laser world.

Hailing from Cornwall, Rosie & The Goldbug formed in 2007, after enchanting lead vocalist Rosie, who had been away at Uni studying music, decided to return to her roots with the sole purpose of forming a band; “The course was all about studying mundane jazz modes and it made me realise I wanted to just write three chord pop tunes and rebel”. Fed up fronting a band “full of belchin’ n fartin’ lads who seemed intent on playing boring old indie-guitar wank”, Rosie saw an escape route when meeting utterly mesmerising female drummer Plums (previously of Japanese drumming group Kagemusha Taiko) for the first time. Joined by pounding bass player Pixie (her sister’s pointy-eared boyfriend – hence the elfish nickname), Rosie & The Goldbug are a razor-sharp three pronged trio to be reckoned with.

For their album Rosie & The Goldbug worked alongside producer Jim Eliot (he is one half of Kish Mauve the top electro duo whose track 2 Hearts was covered by Kylie Minogue). They have formed some impressive partnerships, co-writing with Marcella Detroit (formerly of Shakespear’s Sister) and Glasgow band El Presidente.  For all her love of Kate Bush and Tori Amos, Rosie also loves cheesy Eighties nonsense and a bit of a party.

Live Nation (Madonna, Shakira) are already onboard showing direct support for the band and their leading international booking agents William Morris (The Killers, Alicia Keys, Bjork etc) also jumped on the band early after catching their impressive live set. Onward to 2009, it’s with this live set they’ve decided to make an example of this single and make it ‘AN ALTERNATIVE VALENTINES’ single.  It comes with a hot as hell remix package containing a tech-trance rework from one of 2009’s one-to-watch, and Armin’s favourite producer of ’08, Arnej, an anthemic trance version from one of the top DJ’s on the planet, Gareth Emery, as well as cracking housier mixes from the brilliant Digital Dog.

Turboworlf
Described as the kids of Death From Above 1979, ELO, The Stooges, Justice and White Zombie, Turbowolf are building an electronic noise temple above the crumbled pillars of rock music. Godzilla guitar riffs battle broken junk-store keyboards, while huge choruses smash into unhinged freak-outs. Constantly striving for new musical territory, the band are putting innovation, energy and fun back into rock n roll. Their flamboyant, wall shaking live shows are rammed with a patchwork crowd of rockers, indie kids, electro nerds and ugly stinking weirdos. Turbowolf have torn up stages with the likes of Foals, 80’s Matchbox B-Line Disaster, Crystal Castles, The Faint, Holy Fuck & Chrome Hoof.

The Sea
The Sea are a sibling duet, hailing from London via Cornwall. Peter and Alex have been playing music together since childhood and formed The Sea in 2007.
In a relatively short time they have accomplished a fair amount to be proud of, not only have they recorded their debut album Get It Back, with the legendary John Cornfield at Sawmills Studio in Cornwall, but they have also toured America twice, the most recent tour culminating in New York at the CMJ Music Marathon from where the New York Observer commented: “The Sea, I thought they were amazing”.
Drawing influence from Blues, Rock and Jazz, The Beatles, Dylan, Led Zep, Cream, Django, Robert Johnson, and other inspirational Artists, The Sea are Blues Rock fusion with a melodic shave.
For the past 18 months The Sea have been jumping in a clapped out ex post office transit van, driving around the country and sleeping in service station trucker car parks, playing everywhere they can from the usual venues to their own House Invasion tour where they played in fans’ houses gardens and bedrooms through to many of the UK’s independent festivals and even managing their debut appearance at Glastonbury opening the left field stage to a packed tent.
This constant touring has earned them many fans, including clothes designer Zandra Rhodes, who liked them so much she decided to design them some stage clothes, the first band she has worked with since Freddy Mercury and Queen, so after a few meetings and measurements the band are now the proud owners of outfits with as much colour as their music.

The Sea’s double A side single LOVE LOVE LOVE / SAY IT AGAIN is released on 23rd February 09
The debut album GET IT BACK is released on  9th March 09
