Margot & The Nuclear So and So’s
Metro – Chicago, IL
April 1, 2009
FYI: The lead singer of Margot & The Nuclear So and So’s is NOT a girl named Margot. I found that out a few minutes before the band walked out on stage to perform on April Fools’ Day last week in Chicago. Apparently, the lead singer and frontman is a guy named Richard Edwards. Another FYI: there are eight (8) people in the band Margot & The Nuclear So and So’s. I also found that out moments before the band launched into their opening number, Chicago was the second night of Margot’s trek through the U.S. with Milwaukee kicking off the tour the previous night. Having heard of the band before, but not knowing much about their music, I jumped at the chance to see them live in concert. One of the owners of The Hideout asked me more than a year ago if I knew of Margot. Of course, at that time I was clueless. But I never forgot the name Margot & The Nuclear So and So’s. It has stuck with me ever since that conversation where Katie Tuten from The Hideout told me I should check out Margot as soon as possible because they were going to be huge. And more than a year later, the band has gone from playing tiny Schuba’s (250 capacity) to playing the Metro (1,100 capacity). Just goes to show you that some people really have an ear for hearing good music and raw talent. I now will check out any artist/band that the owner of The Hideout tells me I should listen to and see in concert. Gotta stay ahead of the game these days! Margot & The Nuclear So and So’s are only on tour through April 18th, so make sure you go to their show when they come to your town!
