Three Part Harmony: A Show In 3 Acts

Plain White T’s
Metro – Chicago, IL
May 8, 2009

Plain White T's MetroTom Higgenson (lead vocals, guitar)

Upon entering the Metro last Friday night for the Plain White T’s hometown show, I was greeted with a sign at the door that read: TONIGHT’S PERFORMANCE IS SOLD OUT! I was so proud that the T’s sold out the Metro yet again. I have seen these five guys perform more times that I can remember in Chicago and they always bring out their biggest fans. I never get tired of hearing Plain White T’s songs, both new and old. The songs are so catchy, how could you not like them? For some reason though, I noticed that the crowd at this recent show was made up of the youngest audience I’ve ever seen at a T’s show. There were so many parents with their children! I am talking kids running around screaming that were six, seven, eight, nine years old. Seriously, no joke. Their heads were at the same level as my waist. Weird. The guys in the PWT’s are in their mid to late 20s I believe. It was like the Backstreet Boys phenomenon all over again, but with dudes who can play instruments and write their own songs. But whatever, as long as people are enjoying the music from Chicago’s Plain White T’s, who cares how old they are? I certainly don’t mind. The more the merrier! Below you can find the set list from the second to last show of the band’s “Three Part Harmony” Tour, with the boys performing an intimate acoustic set of four songs in the middle of the night’s performance.

I love the photos. They are up close and personal. My favorite picture is the last one of Tom singing his heart out. It was a good show. I enjoyed not only watching the Plain White T’s, but all the parents who danced to Michael Jackson between sets.
