Los Angeles, CA (March 25, 2009) – Singer-songwriter Kate Voegele has announced plans for a headlining tour set to launch April 24th at Club Sound in Salt Lake City. The “Lift Me Up” tour will see Voegele previewing select songs from her much-buzzed-about new album, A Fine Mess (MySpace/DGC/Interscope). The album was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Mike Elizondo (Rihanna, Maroon 5, Pink) and hits stores on May 19. Among the disc’s many highlights is lead single “99 Times” and “Manhattan From The Sky,” both of which will be featured on the tour.

Voegele, who plays the spunky Mia on the popular teen drama “One Tree Hill,” premiered “Manhattan From The Sky” on the show’s March 23rd episode. “They worked the song into the show so that it enhanced the scene,” she says, “and in turn, the scene enhanced the song. It was an amazing set-up.” You can see the scene here:

About hard-driving lead single “99 Times,” she says, “It’s about the different emotions you experience after finding out somebody you’re close to has been feeding you a story that isn’t true. You end up feeling stupid and pissed off and I guess I dealt with those emotions by putting on some black boots, messing up my hair, turning up the distortion on my guitar and getting in front of the mic to pretend I was Chrissy Hynde. That was pretty much all it took.”

A Fine Mess is the follow-up to Voegele’s sparkling debut disc, Don’t Look Away, which debuted top ten on the iTunes Album Chart, Billboard’s Top Independent Albums Chart and Billboard‘s Top Digital Albums Chart. The 22-year-old Cleveland native toured endlessly in support, sharing stages with Natasha Bedingfield, The Veronicas, Matt Nathanson, Cary Brothers and Ben Lee.
