I have to be honest with you all. I had never heard of Metric until reading about the band on the official blog of blink-182 bassist/singer Mark Hoppus. Apparently, Mark is a huge fan of Metric and was raving about the band’s new album Fantasies on his website nonstop. I check Mark’s blog every day for updates regarding blink-182, so how could I not take notice of this band Metric that he couldn’t say enough good things about? As soon as I heard that Metric was coming to Chicago on their U.S. tour to promote the band’s latest record Fantasies, I knew I had to go and check them out to see what all the fuss was about. Turns out, that was one of the best decisions I have made so far in my life when it comes to music. Officially now a Metric fan for life, I just went out and bought Fantasies the day after their concert. “Help, I’m Alive” was the first song the foursome (half-Canadian, half-American) played at the show last Sunday night at Chicago’s Metro. That song was all it took to assure me that I was in for a night of amazing music and stage performance from all band members, especially lead singer and synth-master Emily Haines. “Help, I’m Alive” is the first of ten new songs on Fantasies. I have been listening to it on repeat since purchasing the record. Thanks Mark! See below for a list of songs from Metric’s Chicago set…
