Inaugural Show Features Up and Coming L.A.-Based Hip Hop Artists U-N-I, Rootbeer and Boombox Ninjas; New Series Acts as an Extension of the Label’s Artist Development Program

LOS ANGELES- July 6, 2009-MySpace Records today announced the launch of “Online [Offline]”, an original series of live shows aimed at spotlighting emerging local music talents. The program debuts on Wednesday July 8th at the Echo nightclub in Los Angeles and is set to feature the best up and coming hip hop bands that LA has to offer including U-N-I, Rootbeer and Boombox Ninjas.

Inglewood based duo, U-N-I are just coming off a successful tour of the UK, and promoting the release of their giveaway single ‘Land of the Kings’ in conjunction with the GLS label. Rootbeer- a pairing of the critically acclaimed rappers Flynn Adam and Pigeon John – are gearing up for a west coast tour supporting Bedouin Soundclash. The opener for the show is new LA combo Boombox Ninjas.

“Online [Offline]” is an ongoing monthly event with each show highlighting a different genre of music. The program will begin with a set of shows in the LA area before rolling out later in the year to other parts of the country. “Online [Offline]” opens with a special night of hip hop with additional upcoming shows focused on alternative rock artists in late August, and a singer-songwriter themed night in September. The shows are open to all ages, and free for entry on a first come first serve basis.

Talent for the series will be drawn from the Artist Development Program created by MySpace Records, which nurtures and promotes some of the best unsigned artists currently on MySpace Music. Along with operating as a fully functioning label, MySpace Records runs the Artist Development initiative to empower artists who are unsigned and self-released, and provide these artists with an extensive set of tools and opportunities to market themselves on MySpace Music.

Currently standing at over 100 artists strong and growing, the Artist Development Program covers a gamut of musical genres including pop, alternative, hip hop and acoustic singer-songwriters, with premier acts including Emily Wells, All Smiles, Mary Magdalan and Kimberly Cole.
