I came to Theory because of a Groupon I had purchased a couple of weeks ago. For those of you who don’t know what a Groupon is here is how it works: Each day you get an email featuring something cool to do at an unbeatable price and you only get it if enough people join that day. So go sign up for your daily Groupon! We stopped in on a Saturday for an early dinner before heading out to The Ashland for a birthday party and I must say I really like this place! The vibe is sports bar meets classy lounge. This is not your average sports bar.
Décor: Love their new patio set up, the chairs at the dinner tables are plush & tremendously comfy, with mini circular orange glass lights hanging from the ceiling. I have to say that the bathroom was small with only two stalls & I was really disappointed after hearing the boys room had a TV. What the hell!? Why don’t we get a TV? The boys I was with tried telling me it’s because we don’t pee standing up but as girls we usually have the loooongest wait so why not give us a TV to watch!? Duh!!!
Crowd: The congregation seemed to be the same age as myself, mid 20’s to mid 30’s. Surprisingly not too busy. Tho it was a little early for a Saturday night. We probably got down there around 6pm for dinner thinking we may hit more traffic than we did, have a bit of a wait at the bar, & didn’t want to rush getting to our next destination. This was so not the case, there were a couple of big groups in the back, the bar was pretty full but the surrounding tables were for the most part open. I can only imagine how packed this place gets once the nitelife hours kick in.
Service: Superrific! Our server was super attentive & the manager even stopped by our table to make sure we were happy.
Liquid Courage on Tap: Honestly I have no clue. As soon as I saw Sangria on Tap nothing else mattered.
Food: The food was soooo good. I had the BL2T, Bacon, Lettuce, Lobster, & Tomato on sourdough bread…hold the B! It came with slaw & Theory’s signature fries, regular mixed with sweet potato..mmm. To be honest with you I normally don’t care for sweet potato fries but these were super awesome! Both the hubby and our friend had the Carne Asada sandwich. It is grilled skirt steak on a toasted jalapeno bun topped with sour cream, pico de gallo, guacamole & salsa. Both of them really enjoyed it.
Sounds: Cubs game all around. The tunage was a decent mix of Counting Crows, Block Party, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty & Fall Out Boy.
Parking: Downtown = Valet!
Overall: Our group enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere was great & I really liked their menu, I can’t wait to come back to try more! The location is fabulous, right across the street from Howl at The Moon & Rockit. When I come back I’m totally gonna barhop!
