LAS VEGAS – September 21, 2009 –Alternative metal powerhouse band Slipknot ends their fall tour with a Halloween stop at The Pearl Concert Theater inside Palms Casino Resort on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 8:00 p.m.

Halloween is a special date for the band, not only does the theatrical group sport Halloween masks and stage names, but the band self-released their first album Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat… on Halloween in 1996, just one year after forming in Des Moines, Iowa. The release of that album led to buzz that caught the eye of Roadrunner Records. Roadrunner signed the band in 1997 and released their first studio album, the self-titled Slipknot, which went on to become certificate platinum, the first platinum album in the label’s history.

Here We Go Magic Sign With Secretly Canadian
Look Out For Sophomore Record Spring 2010

he we go magic

It’s been a big year for Here We Go Magic following the release of their much celebrated self-titled debut (Western Vinyl), and now they have their sights firmly set on 2010 with a new album, a new record label, and an ever expanding sound. Having just signed to Secretly Canadian, the band is targeting Spring of 2010 to release their highly anticipated follow-up to 2009’s breakthrough record.

The band have spent much of the year on the road touring with indie giants including Grizzly Bear and are currently supporting The Walkmen before playing Austin City Limits.

Here We Go Magic are also hard at work recording the self-produced sophomore album in a house they’ve commandeered in upstate New York, and while the first record was the result of Luke Temple getting creative in his bedroom, this release is a fully fledged team effort.

With an eye towards 2010 the band is looking forward to expanding their audience as their unique sound continues to permeate throughout the indie
world.

“making the most of layered and atmospheric melody,”

Brooklyn band Bing and Ruth is an 11-piece ensemble led by composer and pianist David Moore. Described by the New York Times as “making the most of layered and atmospheric melody,” the band utilizes clarinets, voices, cellos, and a buffet of other acoustic instruments to craft expansive soundscapes and quiet microtonal textures. Formed among friends in 2006, they have self-released two records, the “Bing and Ruth” EP in 2006, and the full-length “Kentile Floors” in 2007.

In it’s young life the ensemble has garnered a reputation for unique and engaging life performances, with recent shows in the New York area including the Wordless Music Series, the MATA Festival, the WFMU Festival, Stochastic Brooklyn, and the Darmstadt New Music Series at Issue Project Room. -Cocaine

Asobi Seksu Play CHICAGO At Bottom Lounge On 10.10

Posted by Yvette Casillas On September - 30 - 2009

Record Acoustic Album Rewolf Available November 10th on Polyvinyl

LAist : “Do not let her small stature fool you, Yuki Chikudate will tear you apart. She has the voice of an angel (and not the namby pamby naked cherub kind either. The old testament kind with fiery swords that descend upon you and blast your head off with the word of God.)”

SPIN **** (4 Stars) : “This Brooklyn group’s previous albums established them as shoegaze confectioners, molding candy swirls out of Yuki Chikudate’s soaring, translucent voice and guitarist James Hanna’s Kevin Shields–worshiping production. But here, Asobi Seksu do something My Bloody Valentine can’t — leave Shields behind. “Sing Tomorrow’s Praise” and “Me & Mary” evoke iciness over icing, with more expansive cool than insidious sweetness. And the duo’s seasick guitars (“Layers”), ethereal synths (“Gliss”), and Japanese lyricism (“Meh No Mae”) still provide plenty of geeky studio epiphanies.”

NYLON: “…the band makes music that sounds like daybreak. Think twinkling, shimmering, echoing, murmuring tracks. Even when the New York-based band was playing fuzzy shoegaze rock, they managed to a find a way to inject a bit of beauty into the simplest of pop songs.”

DCist: “Tiny vocalist Yuki Chikudate has a big voice, and her high notes soared over the band’s fuzzy guitar and bass and pounding drums.”

UNCUT **** (4 Stars): “Sumptuous slices of bliss-pop with an art-punk edge”

PLAN B : “After a period as America’s finest shoegaze revivalists, Asobi Seksu now leave genres behind and document the night sky”

CLASH : “‘Contenders for being one of the most inventive bands out there”
