Currents, the highly anticipated follow-up to Treaty of Paris’ 2007 album, Sweet Dreams, Sucker, will land on January 9th 2010 via a special CD release concert event at Metro in Chicago, IL. Having been feverishly writing and recording the majority of 2009, the Chicago quintet has come out swinging with their strongest work to date. Currents expands upon the pop foundation that Treaty of Paris created with their first two records, Sweet Dreams, Sucker and Behind Our Calm Demeanors (2006) and shows tremendous growth. The track, Colleen, will be immediately familiar to anyone who has listened to Treaty of Paris, but combines old sensibilities with a new pop maturity. The title track, Currents, features piano and percussion instrumentation, which shows incredible depth and character. Other tracks include Soft and Slow, Stubborn and Lonely Forever, Forget Me, and the single, The Aftermath, which run the spectrum from danceable power pop to anthemic guitar rock. The band is set to premier their six brand new tracks alongside a stellar lineup and a dynamic stage production. After an exciting journey since their 2007 release, the “currents” have led them here.

Forming in Chicago, Illinois in 2005, Treaty of Paris has had a whirlwind career. Their self-released first EP, Behind Our Calm Demeanors can be heard spotlighted on MTV episodes of ‘Pimp My Ride’ and songs from Sweet Dreams, Sucker are featured on Hollister in-store jukeboxes throughout the US and in the major motion picture ‘Home Of The Giants’ with Haley Joel Osment. While touring across most of the United States on their own and in support of such acts as Jack’s Mannequin, Yellowcard, Spill Canvas, Secondhand Serenade and a stint on the 2008 Warped Tour, the EP landed in the hands of Andrew McMahon (Jack’s Mannequin, Something Corporate), who was in the process of establishing his own imprint label, Airport Tapes & Records. The band released Sweet Dreams, Sucker on McMahon’s label in late 2007 and hit the road touring the entire country supporting their record for the next two years in front of thousands of fans. The band is set to self-release their follow-up record in January 2010, entitled Currents, and will hit the road throughout the upcoming year in support of the new release.

Joining Treaty of Paris for their EP release concert is a one hundred percent hometown line-up, featuring AM Taxi (Virgin Records), The Insecurities, Last Fast Action, and The Victory Gins.

Tickets for the all ages show are on sale now at metrochicago.com, the Metro box office, and eTix.com. Doors for the concert event on January 9th 2010 open at 5:00PM.
