THESE NEW PURITANS RELEASE “ORION” OFF OF SOPHOMORE ALBUM, HIDDEN, DUE OUT 3/2 ON DOMINO!
These New Puritans second album, Hidden, has been greeted with a rapturous reception in the U.K. and across the rest of Europe. Rave reviews across the board have seen Hidden declared “the first masterpiece of the decade”.
Having debuted the new sound in London the band head off on U.K. and European tours, including a month on the road with The xx, while making plans to visit the U.S. in late spring.
With the album’s U.S. release just over a month away, These New Puritans are unleashing the track “Orion” to give listeners another taste of what Hidden has to offer. “Orion” features the New London Children’s Choir, Japanese Taiko drums, chains, roto-toms and more, and it perfectly exemplifies the clarity of purpose and range These New Puritans have used in creating this new album.

Q, 4/5: “electrifying”
The Telegraph, 5/5:
“magically bleak, fantastically original. And, possibly, the first masterpiece of the 2010s.”
The Times, 4/5:
“Astonishing . . . there are more ideas here than most bands manage in an entire career.”
“a dazzling, genuinely innovative constellation of oily, evil-slicked sound.”
“Daring. . . Difficult to pin down, Hidden is even harder to forget.”
The Observer, 5/5:
“courageous, innovative and rebellious”
Mojo, 4/5: “
adventurous, challenging and futuristic”
The Fly, 4.5/5:
“Bold, ambitious album. . . the first truly great album of 2010.”
“a stark and dense knockout”
Artrocker, 5/5: “a total success. As balanced as it is exploratory, Hidden is the result of attuned study and equally boisterous energy. . . Bold in both composition and execution, there really is plenty to marvel at here – and little to stop These New Puritans from making a dent in the right cultural circles this year. Impeccable compositions, threaded together with a majestic sense of the whole.”
Drowned in Sound, 9/10: “unique. . . the album defies categorisation”
