ROB THOMAS ANNOUNCES UNPRECEDENTED SUMMER TOUR;
RARE SERIES OF STRIPPED-DOWN DATES
TO BENEFIT SIDEWALK ANGELS FOUNDATION;
INTIMATE ITINERARY BEGINS JULY 15TH IN ONTARIO,
AND THEN TRAVELS NORTH AMERICA THROUGH LATE AUGUST;
“SOMEDAY” EP AVAILABLE NOW AT ALL DIGITAL RETAILERS
Emblem/Atlantic recording artist Rob Thomas has announced plans for a very special summer tour. The dates benefit the Sidewalk Angels Foundation, the non-profit organization founded by Thomas and his wife Marisol to work hand in hand with charities across America to address social issues for humans and animals alike.
The “Sidewalk Angels Foundation – Summer 2010 Tour” offers a rare and exciting opportunity to catch the multiple Grammy Award-winning superstar performing as a trio in more intimate settings than usual, playing a career-spanning set. “It’s a chance for me, as a songwriter, to really highlight lyric and melody and to create different versions of songs that I’ve been playing for years,” says Thomas. “We’ll be doing my solo stuff, Matchbox Twenty songs, and covers. It will be a real ‘Storytellers’ kind of vibe.”
The dates begin Thursday, July 15th at Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario, Canada and then continue through late August (see attached itinerary). For details and ticket information, please visit: www.robthomasmusic.com and www.sidewalkangelsfoundation.com.
The tour announcement comes hot on the heels of Thomas’ recently released digital EP, “SOMEDAY.” The four-song collection – available now at all DSPs – is highlighted by four previously unreleased tracks, including fan favorite “Sunday Morning New York Blue” and a live rendition of the history-making #1 hit, “Someday.”
The most recent single from Thomas’ 2009 sophomore solo album, “cradlesong,” “Someday” is the latest in a momentous string of chart-topping hits on Billboard’s “Adult Pop Songs” chart. The ranking marks Thomas’ fourth time at #1, following “Her Diamonds” (the first single from “cradlesong”), “Lonely No More” (from 2005’s smash solo debut, “SOMETHING TO BE”), and 1999-2000’s Grammy-winning collaboration with Santana, “Smooth.” With the success of “Someday,” Thomas surpasses Pink for most-ever #1 hits on the “Adult Pop Songs” chart by a solo artist, and equals the chart-topping output of his own band, matchbox twenty. In addition, the song’s companion video was his second from this album to appear at #1 on VH1’s VSPOT Top 20 Video Countdown.

Rob Thomas is one of the most distinctive vocalists and accomplished songwriters in contemporary music, garnering a string of accolades – both for his work as lead singer and primary composer with matchbox twenty as well as for his solo work and collaborations with other artists. In 2004, the Songwriters Hall of Fame presented Thomas with its first ever “Starlight Award” – created to recognize a songwriter in the early years of his or her career that has already made a lasting impact. He has won numerous BMI and ASCAP Awards, and has earned the Songwriter of the Year crown from both Billboard and BMI, two years in a row.
Thomas has written and performed a remarkable string of hits, including matchbox twenty’s #1-charting “Push,” “3AM,” “If You’re Gone,” “Bent,” “Disease,” and “Unwell,” plus such favorites as “Real World,” “Back 2 Good,” “Mad Season,” and “Bright Lights.” His smash collaboration with Santana, the Thomas-penned “Smooth,” earned Rob three Grammy Awards and ranks #1 on Billboard’s “Top Hot 100 Rock Songs” chart and #2 on the magazine’s “Hot 100 All-Time Top Songs.” He has also worked with the likes of Willie Nelson, Mick Jagger, Marc Anthony and Bernie Taupin. Combining all of his projects, Thomas has contributed to sales of more than 80 million records.

The Sidewalk Angels Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing critically needed funds and support to grassroots groups across the country that work diligently in five key areas: animal care and welfare, environmental causes, issues affecting children, music education, and the eradication of poverty and homelessness.
Established by singer-songwriter Rob Thomas and his wife Marisol in 2003, the Sidewalk Angels Foundation functions like an umbrella organization that provides funds and resources to smaller local and regional entities that are doing vital work, but may lack the marketing and organizational clout and financial budgets to continue or expand their services.
Born out of a lyric in Thomas’ evocative holiday song “New York City Christmas,” the Sidewalk Angels Foundation has since raised nearly half a million dollars and helped organizations as diverse as Pets Alive, Blythedale Children’s Hospital, The Animal House in Jamaica and private individuals in need.
Firm in their belief that organizations deeply entrenched in their local communities are the ones best equipped to resolve those communities’ ails, the Thomases are dedicated to helping these grassroots organizations thrive. Sidewalk Angels Foundations selects recipients based on past program success, demonstrable use for future funds and resources, and a shared charitable philosophy. Another grassroots appeal: smaller organizations typically have lower overhead costs and thus funds have more of an impact and actually reach those in need.
