Los Angeles, CA. (September 30, 2010) – Funeral Party, a five-piece alternative rock band from the East L.A. suburb of Whittier, are fresh off a UK tour that included stops at the Reading and Leeds Festivals as well as their home city of Los Angeles. Now Funeral Party are pleased to announce January 25, 2011 as the new U.S. release date for their debut album Golden Age Of Knowhere.

Rising out of the East L.A. party scene, Funeral Party has made their presence known worldwide, earning a spot on NME’s 50 Best New Bands of 2010, a spotlight feature in UK’s famed Q Magazine and added to BBC Radio Zane Lowe’s “Hottest Record in the World” playlist. The Los Angeles Times also proclaims that lead singer Chad Elliot “…[makes] a good case for being the best male vocalist in local rock right now.”

Soon after signing with RCA Records, Funeral Party, whose name was inspired by a Cure song of the same title, finished recording tracks for their full-length debut, Golden Age of Knowhere. The album was produced by Lars Stalfors (Matt & Kim, The Mars Volta) and mixed by Dave Sardy (Band of Horses, LCD Soundsystem, Oasis).

The first three songs on Golden Age of Knowhere – “New York City Moves to the Sound of L.A.,” “Carwars,” and first U.S. single, “Finale” – establish Funeral Party’s up-tempo onslaught. The recently released video for their UK hit “Just Because,”directed by Mike Relm, was praised by BBC’s Chart Blog, calling it “one hell of a pop song.”

Funeral Party’s energetic live act led to opening slots alongside the likes of Yelle, Trail of Dead, and Julian Casablancas, as well as appearances at South By Southwest and Fuji Rock Festival in Japan. This fall, the band will take their danceable art punk on the road again, this time with Irish trio Two Door Cinema Club (US) and Jared Leto-led Thirty Seconds To Mars (UK).
