Self-titled debut album to drop Oct. 12; Duo to join Ray LaMontagne on Fall Tour
Nashville, Tenn. (Tuesday, October 05, 2010) – Grammy winning producer T Bone Burnett is pleased to announce the self-titled debut album release of Beladroit/Universal Records’ new duo, The Secret Sisters, on Tuesday, October 12, 2010. The Muscle Shoals, Alabama-reared siblings, Laura and Lydia Rogers, recorded their inaugural effort in the renown Blackbird Studios with Producer Dave Cobb (Waylon Jennings andJamey Johnson), and Burnett (Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan, Counting Crows, The Beach Boys) serving as the Executive Producer.
“We had never done anything like recording in a studio before, we were just so accustomed to performing at home, but once we stepped in there and put those headphones on, it was so surreal,” says Lydia Rogers of their recording process. “We completed the album in two weeks,” adds Laura Rogers. “We tried to be true to the era [40s/50s] with our recording style, so we used all analogue equipment, and Lydia and I sang into the same microphone during the recording. We’re really proud of our record.”
“This is pure and it sounds good,” Burnett said of first hearing The Secret Sisters. “When they sing it sounds like music, and that’s the criteria for me.”
The self-titled debut will be made available for pre-order on iTunes today, October 5.
The Secret Sisters will join Ray LaMontagne on a series of dates this fall on tour with additional appearances with T Bone Burnett’s The Speaking Clock Revue – a multi-artist concert extravaganza – on October 16 at the Wang Center in Boston and October 20 at the Beacon Theater in New York City. Both evenings of the Revue will feature performances by Elton John & Leon Russell, John Mellencamp, Elvis Costello, Gregg Allman, Ralph Stanley, Jeff Bridges, Punch Brothers, Karen Elson, and The Secret Sisters. In addition, Neko Case and Jim James from My Morning Jacket will join the lineup in Boston and New York respectively.
