Last time I saw Megadeth live was back in San Diego on May 20, 2008. It was the Gigantour where they taped the San Diego show for their live DVD. It was a huge production compared to this one for obvious reasons; they aren’t the headliners. The funny part of it is Dave shined tonight compared to that May 2008 show. I haven’t seen Dave move as he did last night. He wasn’t mobile at all for the DVD performance. The guys have a routine the show, but other than that Dave doesn’t break from line to cut a rug.
Dave Mustaine appeared to be a little ‘out of it’ when he walked onstage, but that didn’t hinder his performance. There were all kinds of crazy energy that even the photographers in the pit were singing and applauding after Megadeth opened with Holy Wars. The crowd roared when the skeleton ‘dead guy’ from the Rust in Peace cover showed up on stage too.
Last night was also the night of original line-ups. It was great to see Dave Ellefson back on bass! It’s how it should be!
Setlist (I know I am missing 2 songs):
Take No Prisoners
Poison was the Cure
Tornado of Souls
Rust in Peace
Symphony of Destruction
Megadeth still have several dates left in the US. Check them out below:
