Nashville Unplugged
Featuring Clay Mills and Thom Shepherd
Venue: Ovation
Genre: Country
Date: Friday, November 12, 2010, at 8 p.m.
Ticket Prices: $5 cover at the door
Artist Info: Nashville Unplugged is based on the concept of getting to know what’s behind the song, similar to the famed Bluebird Café in Nashville. Each month features two songwriters who go through the process of what went into writing a particular song and then they perform it at the show.

Grammy-nominated songwriter Clay Mills has written songs such as Diamond Rio’s Grammy-nominated “Beautiful Mess” and Darius Rucker’s “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It.” Many of Mills songs have been recorded by superstar artists such as Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood, Kimberly Locke and many more. Recently, Mills wrote the latest Rucker single “History in the Making” which climbed to No. 2 on the charts.

Singer and songwriter Thom Shepherd is known for his dynamic country sound. The Nashville, Tenn. native is responsible for No. 1 hits, such as David Ball’s “Riding with Private Malone” and Craig Morgan’s “Redneck Yacht Club.” Shepherd wrote Bucky Covington’s latest single “A Father’s Love (The Only Way He Knew How)” and is currently promoting his own 16-song album Turning Point.

Each month is hosted by singer/songwriters Brian McComas who wrote and sang “I Could Never Love You Enough” and Aaron Benward of Blue County who wrote and sang “That’s Cool.” Another fun aspect of Nashville Unplugged is “Songs from a Hat” where guests who arrive between 7:15 p.m. and 8 p.m. can make up a title to a song and place the suggestion in a hat. The songwriters will pick one title from that hat and then pen a song throughout the course of the evening, to be performed at the end.
