Country Thunder 2011 Headliners Announced!

Country Thunder is still a long ways away, but that doesn’t stop any of the Wisconsin Country Thunder fans from being overjoyed or in some cases furious over the 2011 headliners that were just announced.  If you take a look at the Country Thunder Facebook page you’ll see the Midwesterners angry over the lack of power headliners in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. You’ll even see fits of jealousy. Granted I would love to see Toby Keith in Wisconsin, but the Wisconsin Country Thunder line-up isn’t bad at all!

Thursday July 22nd – 9:00pm Lady Antebellum /AZ Headliner Thursday April 7th – Sawyer Brown

Friday July 23rd – 9:00pm Zac Brown/AZ Headliner Friday April 8th – Jason Aldean

Saturday July 23rd – 9:00pm Martina McBride/AZ Headliner Saturday April 9th -Martina McBride

Sunday July 24th – 9:00pm Rascal Flatts/AZ Headliner Sunday April 10th – Toby Keith

I can tell you I am most excited about Martina McBride and I don’t even know who Zac Brown is.

We’ll have more of the line-up as it’s announced!

Stay Tuned!

Hi Jessica, I’m going to the AZ Country Thunder in April. I am somewhat satisfied with our lineup, but I understand those who are upset about Wisconsins. Point is, if we wanted to go see some pop boy band (Rascal Flatts, and Lady A a little bit) we’d go to that type of concert. A lot of these folks (myself included) go to country thunder to enjoy great COUNTRY music. Listening to the radio, I can deal with some gay pop-sounding songs, but going to a ‘country music festival’ I’d expect hardcore down-home country artists.

By the nature of the name of the event, I would expect something like George Strait, Tracy Lawrence, Brooks and Dunn, Clint Black, Alan Jackson, maybe Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Charlie Daniels Band, or Hank Jr. if they are still playing. someone at least that famous and established and traditional for headliners. As far as Headline openers, Miranda Lambert, Zac Brown Band, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Jamey Johnson, Sara Evans etc. are ALL very talented and true country artists that are also well established. The afternoon acts can be up-and-coming artists or established but less famous artists that also play traditional or down home country such as Kevin Fowler, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Sammy Kershaw maybe? maybe some good local bands etc.

That’s my personal ideal country music festival nowadays, since we don’t have Waylon Jennings, Conway Twitty, Buck Owens, George Jones, Tammy Wynette or Johnny Cash anymore.

Anyway, I am glad we have Jason Aldean in AZ, and I’m happy for WI getting Zac Brown Band. Sawyer Brown is good too. Toby Keith will be an awesome show, but it’s still not traditional country. I will enjoy it and make the most of it, it’s just not my ideal lineup. Martina McBride has got a great voice and has some really great songs, but they’re somewhat not country. Miranda Lambert is true country. Listen to their songs and you tell me if you can tell the difference. Carrie Underwood and Kelli Pickler are more on the Martina side, while Sara Evans and Trisha Yearwood would be closer to the Miranda Lambert side.

Just my personal opinions, since you asked for them :)
