I just discovered My Darkest Days when they opened for Hinder here in Illinois at Austin’s Fuel Room.  I was really reluctant to stay and watch these openers.  They came out with lavish hair and appeared to be a bunch of punks. Mind you, Default had opened the night and no one in the audience could figure out why My Darkest Days was on after Default.  I am glad I stayed to watch… These guys showed the audience who was large and in charge!

The Album Review, Tour Dates, and more photos after the jump…

Their debut album features the biggest names in rock.  Their song “Porn Star Dancing” is insanely catchy that makes me, well you know the saying…when in Rome!  The album is produced by Chad Kroeger and Joey Moi, Nickelback producer.  Its tracks like “Come Undone” (Duran Duran Cover) featuring Jesse James, “Porn Star Dancing” featuring Ludacris, then the rock version of “Dancing” with Ozzy’s guitar player and Black Label Society frontman, Zakk Wylde, and “Set it On Fire” featuring Orianthi.  This record was meant to be big and on the radio.

Chad Kroeger is at the production helm with fellow Nickelback proudcer, Joey Moi, and the album does have a dash of Nickelback’s now famous sound.  Chad knows the formula for making great radio rock albums.  (Ok don’t roll your eyes at me. I know you know all the words to “Rockstar” and “This is How you Remind Me.” Don’t lie! ) My Darkest Days’ self-titled album is no exception to Chad’s winning streak.  Its tracks like “Like Nobody Else” and “The World Belongs to Me” that one can really hear where Chad had his say, and hands, in the album.

The album has its rock ballads alongside the dirty “Porn Star Dancing.”  One of the better ballads on the album is “Can’t Forget You.”   Yet the album ends on a different note with Ludacris and Mr. Kroeger helping out on vocals for “Porn Star Dancing.”  This is more for the club goers in the house.   I can see this remixed for some dirty dancing in the clubs.

The guys really know how to take the studio sound to the stage too.  The only real difference is they rock a little harder live thanks to the energy from the crowd.

Check these guys out on Tour with Hinder now:
