Wu-Tang Clan Brings their Shaolin style to Chicago

Congress Theater in Chicago

Straight from the slums of Shaolin the Killer B’z hit the stage attacking Chicago with a full assault of their greatest hits from all the members. Chicago is the 2nd to last tour stop on their Rebirth Tour run ending on 1/9/2011.

After waiting through 4 opening acts that included Chicago’s own Rhymefest and Wu-Tang affiliated member, LA the Darkman, Wu-tang Clan members came out to get the sold-out crowd pumped.

Wu-Tang included GZA, Method Man, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, Cappadonna, DJ Allah Mathematics, and Ol’ Dirty Bastard son YDB.  Members missing were Raekwon (Family Emergency) & Rza (filming a movie overseas).

After seeing the Wu-Tang play in Milwaukee the night before, Raekwon was missed.  The group did show with members and audience trying to fill some of his versus, but it  lacked the same force from someone as lyrical skilled & gifted as The Chef.

This did not stop Wu from playing hit after hits. Many of the songs were just a few versus before changing to another hit.All the members got a chance to shine with hits as a group as well as their solo project hits.

Method Man seem to be the group’s front man with the RZA out and got the crowd going throughout the show by diving into the audience several times and killing it in on the hit, “Ice Cream.”  Ghostface looking larger than life and hitting on point was not as featured as the crowd would have liked, but still was on point. GZA, the eldest member of the clan, threw out lyrical darts that created pictures in your mind.  The rest of the members had smaller parts with Cappadonna spitting out a freestyle rap that got the crowd going.  Stand out moments where GZA doing “4th Chamber,”  Method man doing “M.E.T.H.O.D. Man.”  Da Rockwilder  went into the crowd and stood on the crowd’s  hands like he was floating and still rapping, and Ol Dirty Bastard’s son, YDB came out to do “Shimmy Shimmy Ya.”

Set list is not complete but included:
Bring Da Ruckus
Shimmy Shimmy Ya
Da Rockwilder
Liquid Swords
4th Chamber
Clan in Da Front
Da Mystery of Chessboxin’
Ice Cream
Wu-Tang Clan Ain’t Nothin’ Ta F**k Wit
