Robyn Returns to the Stage in Milwaukee

    The Rave – Milwaukee, WI

The Rave, which houses mostly rock bands, turned into a dancehall last night.  Robyn hit the stage with no signs of being ill.  The day before Robyn had to postponed her Chicago show and also her stops in Ohio and Michigan due to her illness, that seems to be going around.  The Chicago show has already been rescheduled for Monday, yes, Valentine’s Day!

The night didn’t start off with a bang.  Fans waited for over an hour for the show to start.  It was scheduled to kick off at 8pm but opener Natalia Kills started at 9pm.  There was lots of waiting but it paid off as Robyn graced the electro themed stage around 11pm.

Natalia Kills’s, a Cherrytree Records/Will.am.i recording artist, 3 song set was intense and a very sexual one for being short.  I wish the show would have started on time so Natalia Kills could have performed more than just those 3 songs.  Natalia signed autographs after her set and gave away her newest single “Mirrors.”  It is an excellent pop song produced and co-written with Akon.  Diamond Rings was right after Natalia Kills. I didn’t realize Diamond Rings is only one man.  The crowd went crazy as he setup his gear onstage.  Women were shouting, “I love you! You are so cute!”  He smiled and danced as he was setting up and that’s more than any roadie would have done.

There was a great fear that Robyn would cut her set down due to her illness with the show running over an hour late.  Robyn didn’t disappoint and sang 17 songs from the Body Talk series, her self-titled album, and also her biggest radio hit from the 90’s “Show Me Love.”  No one would have guess that she was cooped up in bed for days.  Her voice was strong and her dancing never ceased.

She was most grateful to the Milwaukee fans last night for coming, and many had come from Chicago because that particular date had been sold-out for quite a while.  Then the Chicagoans that couldn’t make the rescheduled Monday date also made their way north to catch the show.  Her fans are loyal and fashion-forward.

    Set list:

    Time Machine
    Dancing on My Own
    We Dance to the Beat
    Love Kills
    The Girl & the Robot
    Call Your Girlfriend
    Stars Forever
    Get Myself Together
    Dancehall Queen
    Hang with Me
    With Every Heartbeat
    U Should Know Better
    Konichiwa Bitches
    Show Me Love
