Cradle of Filth at The Rave in Milwaukee

As I drove to Milwaukee on a day where we had an ice storm in the morning and 5 inches of snow at night, I wondered would this show still go on and who would show up?  Yet, not even weather can stop Metal fans from seeing the controversial, gothic, black, metal band, Cradle of Filth.

Cradle of Filth is on the road for The Creatures from the Black Abyss Tour featuring TURISAS with their Folk/Metal sound, DANIEL LIONEYE’s side project from H.I.M., and NACHTMYSTIUM know for their intense metal shows.

As I pulled up  to the Rave, I noticed maybe 100 people waiting around, but by the time the show started the place almost filled up to capacity.  The stage setup looked like a scene out of an old cheesy Hammer horror movie with Skeleton’s bodies draped on the drum kit, synthersier and mic stand. On each side of the stage was the drum set of Martin Škaroupka and the other side keyboards for Ashley Ellyllon, who at times, provides backup vocals.

Being a fan of Paul Allender’s guitar playing, I was looking forward to seeing him play but when they band hit the stage; my attention went straight towards James Mcllroy. Both players are immensely skilled and compliment the vocal stylings of frontman, Dani Filth.

The crowd at times would break out into small mosh pits, but that would not last long, which made me wonder if the thick fog of pot was giving them all contact highs and looking for munchies rather than finish the song out.

This music is not for everyone taste, but if you are fan of this type of music you will enjoy the diversity of all the bands and the dark musical power of what Cradle of Filth bring to their fans.

Setlist is not complete but include songs:
From the Cradle to Enslaved
Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids
Principle of Evil Made Flesh
