Lately it seems that Chicago is very optimistic for the contrast in warm weather that is on its way this summer. For the rest of us, who find optimism in music, we were not disappointed with the performance brought to us by Two Door Cinema Club at the Park West Theatre.

This indie-rock band is showing Chicago its recognition. After selling out their last show in Chicago back in October, they are back for round two offering hardcore fans a second chance of ecstasy. It’s impossible to not get your mood elevated with their subtle lyrics, and thrillingly catchy electro-pop beats. They exemplify a recent trend in indie-rock which incorporates electronic music and dance. With their hit songs “Something Good Can work,” “Undercover Martyn,” “I can talk,” and “Cigarettes in the Theatre” a feeling of excitement is conjured by their swift vocal accompaniments and quick tempos.

TDCC do not disappoint live either, they are true performers. Playing to a broad age spectrum, the boisterous crowd did not fatigue. They wasted no time heavily kicking into their set with their hit “Cigarettes in the Theatre.” What is most impressive is their sharp polished sound. It’s striking to hear an artist sound as good live as they do on their album.

Their of-the-moment sound and impressive live performances have even scored them a spot on stage at Coachella this year. It is easily seen as well deserved.
