LAS VEGAS – May 2, 2011 – Historically acclaimed American icon Tony Bennett will perform at the Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort on Sunday, July 24, 2011, at 8 p.m.
Tony Bennett’s unmatched talent has won him awards for his voice and his humanitarianism. Such honors include 15 Grammy awards including the prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, two Emmy awards, named NEA Jazz Master in 2006 and Bennett became a Kennedy Center Honoree in 2005. He has sold more than 50 million records worldwide, achieved dozens of platinum and gold albums, charted 24 Top 40 hits and founded the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Astoria, Queens.
Starting with a number of Columbia singles in the 1950s Bennett quickly gained fame with chart- toppers such as “Because of You,” “Rags to Riches” and the Hank William’s cover “Cold, Cold, Heart.”
His most recent CD release, Tony Bennett: A Swingin’ Christmas Featuring the Count Basie Orchestra, has become a must-have seasonal favorite.
Being able to solidly connect his music with a younger crowd is just one of Bennett’s great successes. In 1993, Bennett made an appearance with the Red Hot Chili Peppers at the MTV Video Music Awards. Bennett was later featured on MTV Unplugged.
Tony Bennett is one of a handful of artists to have new albums chart in the 1950s, ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and into the new millennium.
While enjoying a long and successful career, Bennett continues to amaze the world with his multiple talents and dedication. In 2009, he re-signed with Columbia Records, continuing as the longest signed artist in label’s history.
