New York, NY –  Jordan Galland will release To The Top, his third solo release in as many years, this summer via Slush Puppy Music.  A follow up to his sophomore solo album, Search Party, Galland looked to the past for inspiration, pulling from a sound similar to that of his ’98 band Dopo Yume; commissioning former band mates Sean Lennon for bass guitar and Sam Koppelman for percussion on select tracks.

The four-song EP showcases a blend of sunny pop hooks and cloudy lyrics – think John Hughes meets John Waters.  From the love-letter homage in “New York Romance,” to the pop chord progression and forthright lyrics of “To the Top,” the EP combines city-kid bravado with a relatable farewell to youth.

:: About Jordan Galland ::

Jordan Galland’s encyclopedic memory for classic films has proven useful in the past few months. Not only has he paid tribute to scenes from Harold & Maude and The Exorcist in  music videos for bands like The Americans and Rival Schools (which he directed), Galland’s forthcoming EP, To The Top (Slush Puppy Music) showcases a cinematic blend of sunny pop hooks and cloudy lyrics – think John Hughes meets John Waters. Set for release Summer 2011, To The Top is Galland’s third solo release.

Prior to his solo-work, Jordan formed the band Dopo Yume in 1998, touring with the likes of Cibo Matto, Rufus Wainwright, Ween and Lilly Allen to name a few. As a solo-artist, Galland has contributed to numerous albums including Sean Lennon’s Friendly Fire (Capitol Records), Daniel Merriweather’s Love & War (Allido Records) and with Mark Ronson for the motion picture soundtrack for 21. Jordan’s sophomore effort, Search Party was released in the Spring of 2010, as was the series of music videos Galland directed for the album, combining his love of both music and film in the ethereal creations.  For more info, visit www.jordangalland.com.
