Soundgarden Voodoo New Orleans 2011

The Voodoo List – The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly

Best of Day: Soundgarden, they headlined Day One and didn’t disappoint!

Biggest Surprise of the Day: Fitz and the Tantrums (click for photos)

Epiphany: It’s New Orleans, it’s All Hallow’s Eve weekend. I saw a dead ring for Jack White(though he was dressed as a pirate with painted face, perhaps he was going for the Johnny Depp look but it came off as Jack White). As I was hanging around one of the smaller tents I thought to myself, “This is cool, if th artists want to walk around they simply have to dress up and no need to worry about getting harassed by fans.”

Biggest Disappointment: My airline, which sat at the gate for close to 90 minutes after it’s scheduled departure due to maintenance issues. Teh end result was missed sets by Peelander-Z, Ani Difranco, and getting to the pit for Band of Horses as security was holding up a hand signifying end of the three songs.

Worst Band of the Day: Fortunately there wasn’t an artist that I saw that fell into the “Worst” category. They all sounded good and it was a strong cross-genre mix of talent.
