The Voodoo Experience
The Voodoo List: The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly
Best of the day: Easily Snoop Dogg. Saturday brought a bigger crowd than Friday (it looked to be at least double the size) and Snoop turned the clear skies into a mellow haze. The sunshine was a vast improvement over Friday’s cold and windy weather.
Most fun and biggest surprise: Watching Jesse Hughes (Eagles of Death Metal) front Boots Electric and interact with the early crowd as he strutted around the stage.”We will shake our dicks! Thank you, dig it!” was his commonly used phrase.
Most expected: A large crowd was there to see Blink-182 and the younger audience (compared to Friday’s Soundgarden set) was singing and bouncing along to all of their songs.
Most Unexpected: Girl Talk pulled a huge crowd despite being up against Snoop Dogg’s finish and Blink 182’s set. DJ Gregg Gillis’ mashup dance remixes to a crowd that was slammed against the stage. Lights, toilet paper, confetti, and pyro rocked his set.
Biggest disappointment: Being advised that Girl Talk would have a rare pyro finish to his set (scheduled from 8:15 to 9:45) and a great photo opportunity; only to rush over after the start of Blink-182’s to see that Girl Talk had finished 15 minutes earlier than scheduled.
Worst food: Nothing! Everything from Crawfish Bread to Bacon and Cheddar Crepes has been fantastic!
