Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
Cabooze Plaza – Minneapolis, MN
5/25/12
I have always felt I am a hippie at heart, minus the whole sent of Patchouli. But I have found myself in the need of a hippie fix, what better way than with some Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros! I arrived just in time to snag a beer and some cheese curds before their set in Minneapolis. The band hit the stage fashionably late. The crowd was going nuts since they were able to see the band backstage getting pumped before coming out. Once Alex came out he scoped out the stage. You could tell right away he likes to interact with the fans. As he stood on stage he reached his arm out disappointed he was not within arms reach of the crowd. That did not stop him! Many concert goers reached right back enticing him to get closer. He made his way by hurtling over giant amps to get to his fans. Then tight roped along the barricade. It was pretty awesome! I would like to apologize in advance. The band is giant and there was no way I was able to photograph each member. Many were hidden in corners of the stage and blocked by countless instruments on stage. I think my favorite part of the show wasn’t so much on stage but out in the crowds. Waaaaaaaaaaaaay in the back is what can only be described as a hippie mosh pit. Numerous fans gathered around dancing in a circle together. It was wonderful to see. Those are my kind of peeps!
