Music Video: Awaken the Empire “The Awakening”

Alt-Electronica group Awaken the Empire have just revealed their much anticipated video for the song “The Awakening.” Fans can watch the video now, here:  The video was directed by Chad Michael Ward: Combi-Christ, Aiden.

In early 2011, the band self funded/produced their debut release The Awakening EP via iTunes, accompanied by the self-produced video for the single “Know Your Place.” Shortly after, the band signed with indie label Burn The Records! The band is currently in the studio recording with producer Erik Ron (Panic at the Disco, Versa Emerge, Get Scared).

Awaken the Empire consists of Damien Lawson (Vocals, Guitar, Programming), Jaymz Marcc (Bass), Daryl Falconer (Drums), and Shivan (Guitar). Their sound is best described as a post-apocalyptic soundtrack to the future…but Awaken the Empire is much more than a band, it is a movement for the people. A call to action to wake break free of society’s expectations, and to not be afraid of risking it all for the chance to control ones own destiny.

Bay Area Band SorryEverAfter Arrives on the Scene with Shows, Recording, Video

Bay Area Band SorryEverAfter Arrives on the Scene with Shows
Recording and a Video Announced
October 21th at Uptown Lounge, October 22nd at Benders

The always fecund San Francisco music scene has been burgeoning for the last few years with bands like Kelley Stoltz, The Oh Sees, Sonny and the Sunsets, Ty Segall and Girls breaking out nationally and opening the doors for hooky bands who appreciate distortion. When Bay Area band vets Lynda Mandolyn, Erica Liss, Christa DiBiase and Mike Cloward started SorryEverAfter, they discovered that years on the road had earned them dividends that are impossible to fake: confidence and dynamic chemistry. The quartet plays spare, fuzzy power pop with girlish harmonies, feedback-laden guitars and a locomotive backbeat. Hypnotic, blissed-out songs share brutally honest lyrics and a wry sensibility that reflects the complexities experienced by friends who unflinchingly look life in the face.

“Constellations” and “Pill” live at the Hemlock, San Francisco, California 9/3/11

The band has been in hyperdrive since forming. Their first show was in August, SorryEverAfter released a free 6 song cassette in September with custom art on its face in a limited edition that fans snapped up in record time, while they were beginning to track songs for releases in early 2012 and filming their first video, “Honey Girl”. Following that, they’ll spend December recording with Tim Green (The F**ing Champs) at his Louder Studios for a full length and a Flexidisc. The band has shows planned on October 21st at the Uptown Lounge in Oakland and the 22nd at Benders in San Francisco  They are firming up touring for the middle of January when their 6 song EP “Meet Us When The Lights Go Low” is released.  January 24th to be exact!

The band came together thanks to drummer Cloward’s urge to start something new and a chance meeting with Christa, who brought singer/guitarist/lyricist Lynda into the fold along with Erica. Cloward spent years playing with seminal west coast band 28th Day (with a young Barbara Manning), Richard Buckner, the Sunbirds and Ambulance as well as founding the great DIW Magazine and Devil in the Woods Records. Lynda hails from Detroit Rock City, where she was inducted into the Detroit Metro Times Hall of Fame at the age of 23. She was a member of Fat Wreck Chords-signed Fabulous Disaster (winner of SF Weekly’s Best Punk Band in 2001 and the first all girl band to tour Eastern Europe after the wall came down. Fellow guitarist Christa (Girl Band, Sassy!!!)has a playing history with both Lynda and bassist Erica, who, as a member of MDC,  played all over the world. The entire band has a ferocious baseball obsession, fueled by their beloved Giants, so during the season, if they aren’t playing, they are easy to locate.

U2 set to release 20 Years of Achtung Baby on November 1st

Twenty years ago, Bono described Achtung Baby as “the sound of four men chopping down The Joshua Tree” while Jon Pareles of The New York Times wrote that “stripped-down and defying its old formulas, U2 has given itself a fighting chance for the 1990’s.”  The album won a Grammy® Award for Best Rock Performance and became one of the most significant records of the nineties and of U2’s career.

To mark twenty years since its 1991 release, an anniversary edition of U2’s Achtung Baby is due on November 1, 2011, in the United States (internationally, October 31, 2011).

Recorded over six months at Hansa Studio in Berlin and Windmill Lane in Dublin, Achtung Baby is U2’s seventh studio album.  Produced by longtime U2 collaborators, Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno with Steve Lillywhite, Achtung Baby was engineered by Flood and led by “The Fly.”  The album spawned four other singles:  “Mysterious Ways,” “One,” “Even Better Than The Real Thing” and “Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses.”

The Achtung Baby archives have unearthed some previously unreleased songs from the recording sessions. With a raft of unreleased material, video, remixes, b-sides and documentary footage discovered, a full album of demo and early versions of the final 1991 tracklisting has also been revealed.  Five physical editions including vinyl, CD, DVD and digital options will be made available.  Full details of all formats are at

Earlier this year U2 returned to Hansa Studio in Berlin to discuss Achtung Baby in From The Sky Down, directed by Academy Award®-winning director Davis Guggenheim (Waiting for Superman, An Inconvenient Truth).  The film has been selected to open the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8 and will be included in the anniversary edition. A trailer for the film can be see here:

DAUGHTRY Unveils Album Art And Track Listing For Break The Spell

October 6, 2011 – Los Angeles, CA – DAUGHTRY have revealed additional details including album artwork and track listing for its eagerly anticipated album, Break The Spell, out November 21st from 19 Recordings/RCA Records. The long awaited third album from the multi-platinum selling rock band includes the chart-climbing “Renegade” and ” Crawling Back To You,” which is well on its way to becoming the band’s fifth No. 1 at the Hot AC format.  The new record will be released 5 years to the day from the release of their multi-platinum debut album in 2006.

Eric Church Welcomes a Baby Boy!

Eric Church

Nashville, Tenn. (Thursday, October 6, 2011) – One of country music’s most dynamic entertainers is now working on pleasing an entirely new audience.  Eric Church and wife Katherine are proud to welcome their first child—Boone McCoy Church.

Boone was born on Monday, October 3 at Centennial Women’s Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee at 8:35 a.m. CT and weighed 7 lbs. and 11 oz.

“Everybody always tells you what an awesome and unique experience being a parent is.  Words can never do the feeling justice.  I am very thankful and blessed to have a healthy and happy baby boy and baby mama,” shares Eric.

Although Church has been touring extensively throughout 2011, he does have plans to reduce the number of his performances throughout the remainder of the year to enjoy time with his family.  The last time Church took time away from the road was to write his chart-topping third studio album, CHIEF.  However, Church does expect an entirely new set of inspirations to come from his time at home.

“It will be interesting to see how this new chapter in our life manifests itself musically,” Eric adds.  “I’ve always made music that was representative of real life.  Life doesn’t get more real than having a newborn at home.”

The Church family will be releasing photos in the coming weeks of the latest addition to their family.  Stay tuned to for more details.

Peter Gabriel + Orchestra + Greatest Hits = NEW BLOOD out 10/11

“New Blood – Live in London” Concert DVD Out October 25th

Peter Gabriel

“The orchestra provides different dimensions to the music that weren’t there initially. Rock artists work slowly in studios, building up layer by layer, and one of the great, powerful advantages of an orchestra is all these musicians playing at one moment with all sorts of colors and personalities.” – PETER GABRIEL

On the heels of a limited sold-out US summer tour that earned Peter Gabriel some of the best reviews of his career, he will release a full-length CD NEW BLOOD on October 11, 2011 distributed by EMI. A continuum to his recent Scratch My Back release, the NEW BLOOD album will feature some of Gabriel’s biggest hits from his prodigious career, reconstructed and re-imagined with orchestral arrangements and recorded live with the New Blood Orchestra. Gabriel hand-selected the songs and enlisted the help of longtime collaborator John Metcalfe for the arrangements and Ben Foster as conductor of the 46-piece New Blood Orchestra.

This treatment is applied with painstaking attention to detail and stunning effect to songs including “Mercy Street”, “Don’t Give Up”, “Digging In The Dirt”, “San Jacinto”, and the all-time classic “Solsbury Hill”. The intention was not to simply rework Gabriel’s biggest songs, but rather, find songs that were enhanced by the massed strings, brass, woodwind and percussion. “Don’t Give Up” – now with Norwegian singer Ane Brun’s vulnerable, cracking vocals replacing those of Kate Bush – rides a stirring, uplifting coda. Where the twinkle of “San Jacinto” was originally supplied by loops from a Fairlight sampler, piano and bows now provide the otherworldly magic. But probably the most extraordinary reinterpretation is that of “Rhythm Of The Heat” where Metcalf has recast the original’s extended African drum jam into a dizzying, swirling orchestral maelstrom.

NEW BLOOD will be available as a standard single-disc and digital download. A special 2-CD version will include the standard album plus an added disc of instrument versions. There will additionally be a heavyweight vinyl version available November 8th that is released with a bonus 7″ featuring “A Quiet Moment” and “Solsbury Hill”). The filmed concert “New Blood – Live in London”, recorded October 23rd, 2010 at the Hammersmith Apollo will be available in 3D, blu-ray and standard DVD on October 25th.

Anna Calvi Announces North American Dates in December

Anna Calvi Announces North American Dates in December!

Set to Headline Brooklyn Vegan Holiday Show on 12/13

Anna Calvi is excited to announce a run of North American dates in December, set to kick off in San Francisco on December 6th.  This summer brought Anna Calvi a nomination for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize for her self-titled debut which was released on Domino earlier this year. Anna also made her U.S. network television debut on The Late Show With David Letterman.

For those of us lucky enough to catch one of Anna Calvi’s first shows in the U.S, the scene was this: a darkened room, sweltering heat and dripping sweat. As the stage filled with smoke, she emerged like ice cold water hitting sauna rocks – Anna Calvi shredded her guitar with all the passion and vigor we’d imagined. On December 13th Anna will return to NYC to play a very special holiday show thrown by Brooklyn Vegan. Tickets go on sale Friday, September 16th. One dollar from every ticket sale will be donated to Toys For Tots. Point your browsers HERE to purchase and stay tuned for announcements on additional performers to be added to the bill over the coming weeks.

Check out Anna Calvi’s bewitching performance of “Love Won’t Be Leaving” under ominous skies at last month’s SpinHouse Live rooftop event. Full performance can be seen HERE

Eric Church Nominated As CMA’s New Artist Of The Year

Eric Church
Nashville, Tenn. (Tuesday, September 6, 2011) – If you were to run in to Eric Church today, chances are you’d find him celebrating with a drink in his hand. He’s nominated for the CMA’s Top New Artist Of The Year.
“Though I’ve tried to make my career not just about winning awards, it’s always great to be recognized, and I’m especially honored in this case because the CMA voting members are my peers. It’s always really rewarding when other people who also do this for a living acknowledge what you’re doing,” said Church.
Seemingly sitting on top of the world right now with his smash No. 1 album debut across all genres, CHIEF, and RIAA Gold® Certified hits “Homeboy,” “Love Your Love The Most,” and “Smoke A Little Smoke,” Eric has had a year full of hard-earned accomplishments. The CMA Award nomination comes as another chance for him to thank his fans – the people to whom he says are responsible for it all.
“It’s quite humbling to have fans take ownership of a record and a career like they have ours. They have been the driving force behind any success or recognition that we have ever received,” said Church. “I can’t thank them enough for where they have brought us and where we go from here.”
Eric’s current single “Drink In My Hand” is currently rising up the country  radio charts, and fans can catch him out on the road at upcoming solo shows and on the Locked and Loaded Tour with Toby Keith.

Paul McCartney Announces Ocean’s Kingdom

paul mccartney ocean's kingdomMarking his first foray into the world of dance, Paul McCartney has announced the general release of Ocean’s Kingdom, commissioned by the New York City Ballet. The recording will be released by Hear Music/Telarc and is conducted by John Wilson, produced by John Fraser and performed by The London Classical Orchestra.

Ocean’s Kingdom is the first time Paul has written an original orchestral score or any kind of music for dance and is the result of a collaboration between Paul and New York City Ballet’s Master in Chief Peter Martins, who have worked together to present the world premiere of a new ballet for the company’s 2011/2012 season this September.

Though the work is Paul’s first ballet, he approached the project in the same way he writes all other music, driven by his heart rather than his head and inspired by feeling rather than specific technical knowledge. While this may have been another new turn for his staggeringly varied career to take, Paul knew it had to be influenced by his own personal experience and that he needed to create a story the audience would find equally compelling and moving.

Paul’s first step was to visit the Royal Opera House to see Adolphe Adam’s Giselle, danced by the Royal Ballet. Afterwards, Paul met the dancers and discussed the work with them, realising as he did so that he was still without a central theme to his work. Keen to tell a story through his music, Paul decided to focus on the purity of the ocean and within just two months, the first draft had been completed. He then went through the music again thinking specifically of the ballet itself, thereby creating a world featuring distinctive characters and a vibrant underworld kingdom.  Finally Paul spent many more weeks working alongside Peter Martins to refine the work, before Peter created the choreography with the NYCB dancers.

An hour long score featuring four stunning movements – “Ocean’s Kingdom,” “Hall of Dance,” “Imprisonment” and “Moonrise” – the ballet tells of a love story within the story of an underwater world whose people are threatened by the humans of Earth. A potently expressive and richly varied work, the score is Paul’s most challenging and emotionally complex yet. As he explains: “What was interesting was writing music that meant something expressively rather than just writing a song.  Trying to write something that expressed an emotion – so you have fear, love, anger, sadness to play with and I found that exciting and challenging.”

The premiere of the ballet Ocean’s Kingdom will take place at NYCB’s Fall Gala on Thursday 22nd September 2011 while the release of the orchestral score will follow on October 4th, available digitally, on CD and on vinyl.  It was recorded in June in London.

The artwork that accompanies the release is equally striking and inventive. Though it seems to suggest a city skyline, it is actually a digital readout of the notes from the ballet score.

Although this is his first orchestral score for dance, Paul is already quite at home in the world of classical music.  His back catalogue already carries four classical albums, the most recent of which was the Classical BRIT Award winning ‘Ecce Cor Meum (Behold My Heart)’; a work for chorus and orchestra in four movements that was released in 2006.

1. Movement 1 Ocean’s Kingdom (14:07)  2. Movement 2 Hall of Dance (16:19)  3. Movement 3 Imprisonment (13:36)  4. Movement 4 Moonrise (12:29)

Self-Released Via Justin Furstenfeld’s OWN Label, UP/DOWN Records, Any Man In America Lands at #8 On The Top 200

Band Resuming Their Headline Tour On September 8th

Blue October

(New York, NY – August 24, 2011) – Multiplatinum art rock band, Blue October, have landed their highest chart debut of their 16 year career with the release of theirlatest album, Any Man In America.  The album, which was self-released on Justin Furstenfeld’s own UP/DOWN Records after parting ways with Universal Motown, debuted at #8 on the Billboard Top 200, was the #2 debut in the chart this week and also #2 on the Independent Album Chart selling over 26,000 copies.  The album also enjoyedsuccess digitally hitting the #1 spot on the iTunes Alternative album chartand  #5 on the iTunes Overall Album Chart.  The record also enjoyed 5 consecutive days at #1 on the Top 100 Paid MP3 Album Chart. The album was produced by Furstenfeld, who also produced the band’s platinum album, Foiled, together with Tim Palmer who has produced and mixed for the likes of Robert Plant, Pearl Jam and U2.  Any Man In America is the follow up to 2009’s Approaching Normal and is the 6th studio album for Blue October. The album takes the listener on a cathartic journey chronicling the deeply personal events that have unfolded in singer Justin Furstenfeld’s life since the band’s last release. USA Today states in its 3 out of 4 star review “this one’s a doozy…It’ll tear your heart out.” Justin has also become very proactive in fighting for shared parenting rights and teamed up with the American Coalition For Fathers and Children recently.

Frontman and UP/DOWN Records President Furstenfeld had this to say about the band’s achievement: “I am in awe and beside myself with a big sigh and the most amazing crows flying in my stomach. The fact that when I started UP/DOWN Records, it was to prove that the listener can still be touched by artists with something to say, artists who are not afraid to stand up and remind listeners that they can still feel music like a first kiss. Making music that is real is what both Blue October and UP/DOWN records is all about.  I can’t thank everyone enough who has supported us and helped us achieve this milestone for the band.”

The debut single, “The Chills,” is currently making its way up the charts landing in the Top 40 at Alternative radio this week.  The band also just released the video for the song and you can check it out here. The video was directed by Jeff Ray based on an idea that Justin came up with himself. Blue October has also released the touching video for “The Feel Again (Stay)”.  Directed by Merritt Fields, “The Feel Again (Stay)” is one of Blue October’s most truthful and haunting videos to date and gives fans a deeper taste of what they can expect from the new album.   That video has already reached over a 200,000 views in its short time since being released and can be seen here.

Blue October will also resume their Any Man In America tour on September 8th in Phoenix and will run through mid-October.  The tour will make stops in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle and Las Vegas among others.  Known for their impressive live shows, the band received critical acclaim with the early shows that kicked off the tour in Texas.  The Dallas Morning News raved “Wednesday’s performance showed a band that has not only arrived, but has set up a smooth-running and rewarding shop.“ Justin and Blue October will be bringing representatives from the American Coalition of Fathers and Children on the road with them to educate fans about Family Breakdown, Divorce and Emotional Child Support.

Blue October first exploded into the mainstream after years of relentless touring with their hit single “Hate Me” which spent 16 weeks in Top 5 at Modern Rock. From their 2006 release Foiled, the song rocketed to the top of the modern rock charts and garnered the band a whole new fan base. The album went on to sell 1.6 million copies based on the strength of the single and the band’s constant touring.  Blue October continued their success at Modern Rock radio with the Top 10 hit “Dirt Room” from Approaching Normal.

Blue October is Justin Furstenfeld, Jeremy Furstenfeld, Ryan Delahoussaye, Matt Noveskey, and Julian Mandrake.

Special ticket and dining packages available for all concerts

Not just a summer music festival, Ravinia continues the music during its annual Rising Stars series, this year featuring six concerts in the fall of 2011 and spring of 2012, bringing the brightest stars of the next generation of professional classical musicians to Ravinia. All concerts take place in the festival’s most intimate performance space, the indoor 450-seat Bennett Gordon Hall, which continues to showcase successful recitals and chamber music concerts during the summer. This season’s series features pianist Giles Vonsattel (Oct. 1, 2011); violinist Bella Hristova (Oct. 15, 2011); the Linden String Quartet (Nov. 5, 2011); pianist Daria Rabotkina (Nov. 19, 2011); Musicians from Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute (April 7, 2012); and vocal ensemble Calmus (April 28, 2012).

Ravinia is dedicated to developing the full potential of emerging artists, beginning with their performances on the Rising Stars series and, ultimately for some, their Chicago Symphony Orchestra debut on the pavilion stage during the festival’s summer season. Designed to provide gifted young musicians with the opportunity to refine their performing skills, the Rising Stars series encourages audiences to experience and support a lineup of the best and brightest candidates for future stardom while presenting artists with the chance to

perform before discerning audiences in an intimate setting. Rising Stars concerts have introduced Ravinia audiences to such current stars as violinists Pamela Frank, Gil Shaham and Maxim Vengerov; pianists Lang Lang, Jonathan Biss and Joyce Yang; cellists Zuill Bailey and Claudio Bohórquez; and clarinetist Anthony McGill.

In addition to their Rising Stars performances, the artists will also perform in free concerts for students involved in Ravinia’s REACH*TEACH*PLAY education programs throughout the Chicago area. These performing opportunities give students a chance to make an intimate connection not only to the young artist, but also to classical music. Ravinia’s education programs make music accessible to thousands of children K-12 in Chicago and the north suburbs, teaming working musicians with teachers to put music back into the public schools.

The Joseph M. Fabbioli Rising Stars Concert features 2008 Avery Fisher Career Grant winner pianist Giles Vonsattel, who began touring after winning the top prize of the prestigious 2002 Naumburg International Piano Competition. He made his Alice Tully Hall debut that same year and has since performed at Zürich’s Tonhalle, Warsaw’s Chopin Festival and Tokyo’s Opera City Hall.  He has performed in the U.S. with the Utah, Santa Fe, Nashville and Grand Rapids symphonies as well as with the Boston Pops Orchestra. During a 2006-09 three-year appointment, Vonsattel was a member of Lincoln Center’s prestigious Chamber Music Society Two, with whom he performed extensively both in New York and on tour.

Violinist Bella Hristova is first-prize winner of the 2008-09 Young Concert Artists International Auditions and made her debut in the Young Concert Artists Series during the 2009-10 season at Carnegie Hall’s Merkin Concert Hall and at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.  At the auditions she was also awarded the Helen Armstrong Violin Fellowship, the Miriam Brody Aronson Award, the Ruth Laredo Memorial Award, the Candlelight Concert Society Concert Prize and the Lied Center of Kansas Concert Prize. Hristova has performed at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, Cartagena Festival Internacional de Musica and in recital at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston as well as appearing as a guest artist with the New York String Orchestra conducted by Jaime Laredo. She has also been featured on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion on NPR.

Currently the Graduate String Quartet-in-Residence at the Yale School of Music, the Linden String Quartet is the gold medalist and grand prize-winner of the 2009 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, winner of the 2010 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition, and comprises laureates of the 9th Borciani International String Quartet Competition.  Other awards include first prize at the Sixth Hugo Kauder International Competition and the Coleman-Barstow prize at the 2009 Coleman National Chamber Ensemble Competition.

Winner of the 2007 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, pianist Daria Rabotkina has performed in solo appearances with the San Francisco and New World symphonies under the baton of Michael Tilson Thomas, and with the Kirov Orchestra under the baton of Valery Gergiev in a four-concert North American tour. Rabotkina has given recitals at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and Merkin Concert Hall, the Moscow Conservatory, and in Denmark, Switzerland and Japan.  In addition to her 2007 victory at the CAG Competition, she has garnered prizes at the Virtuosi per Musica di Pianoforte in the Czech Republic, Tbilisi Competition in Georgia, Jacob Flier Piano Competition in New Paltz, Sendai Competition in Japan, World Piano Competition in Cincinnati, Jacksonville Competition in Florida and the Montreal International Musical Competition.

Musicians from Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute is a chamber ensemble whose members are selected each year from the most promising musicians to attend the institute’s summer session at Ravinia. The tour, designed to bring the musical richness of Ravinia to a wider audience, presents formal concerts as well as educational programs for schools and community organizations. Musicians from Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute has appeared at such prestigious venues as Boston’s Gardner Museum, the Library of Congress, Miami’s Friends of Chamber Music series and New York’s Town Hall, in addition to performances each year on Ravinia Festival’s Rising Stars series.  This year’s touring group includes violinists Tessa Lark and Steans Institute piano and strings program director Miriam Fried, violist Ayane Kozasa, cellists Deborah Pae and Nathan Vickery and pianist Adam Golka.

Founded in 1999 in Germany, the a cappella quintet Calmus comprises graduates of Leipzig’s renowned St. Thomas Church Choir School and offers the unique combination of soprano voice with four male voices ranging from bass to countertenor. With no fewer than 10 recordings to its credit, Calmus received the 2009 Echo Klassik Award for Lied:gut!, a disc of treasured German folksongs. The group‘s latest CD, Hausmusik, is a collection of songs by Robert and Clara Schumann and J.S. Bach. Calmus’s festival appearances include International A Cappella Week in Hannover and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival, where the group attended a master class with The King’s Singers. In addition to first prize and numerous performance prizes at the CAG Competiton, other awards include first prizes at the fourth annual Robert Schumann Choral Competition, the International Competition for Vocal Ensembles in Finland and the 37th Tolosa Choral Contest in Spain.

Ravinia Festival gratefully acknowledges the support of The Albert Pick, Jr. Fund and The Bruning Foundation for their generous participation as sponsors of this series.

MATISYAHU Releases “Elijah’s Song”

Matisyahu elijah song

Matisyahu has released “Elijah’s Song” in memory of a young boy he met who was suffering from cancer. During the time that Matisyahu knew him, he and Elijah became great friends; Matisyahu would keep in constant contact with the young man, even surprising him by performing at his bar mitzvah. Elijah had asked that he and Matisyahu record a song together, and in Elijah’s final hours, the song was completed and is now available to download.

Says Matisyahu, “I wrote and recorded this song with my friend Elijah just hours before he passed away last December. Proud to be able to share his voice and story while helping his family on their road to recovery. If you like it, you can make a donation and get two versions of the song–including one with him singing.”

The track can be downloaded HERE with a minimum donation of $1 and all of the proceeds go to the Elijah Memorial Fund, administered by the Chabad of West Boca. The download includes two versions of “Elijah’s Song”, including a special version with Elijah and Matisyahu singing together the night before Elijah passed.

Album Pre-order Packages Available Now

American Idol Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery  debuted the video for his hit, “I Love You This Big” Tuesday on CMT, as part of an extended 15-minute special with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from his video shoot.

He shot the video with director Shane Drake while in Los Angeles for rehearsals of the American Idols Live tour.  “He was the guy who shot all of our music videos for the Ford commercials for American Idol,” Scotty says. “It was great because I already knew him and we had a good relationship.”

The video was shot in an area called Angels Point. “The location for the shoot was really cool,” he says. “If you looked one way, you could see Dodger Stadium, and if you looked another way, you could see downtown L.A.

“We found this park that had a little country feel to it and it all worked out,” he says. “If I hadn’t told you that, you would think we would have shot that in North Carolina. The music video has a summertime barbecue feel, like a July Fourth party with fireworks and hot dogs and families.”

As a way of saying thank you to the fans for helping him win Season Ten of American Idol, Scotty wants them to be the first to receive the exclusive details of his much-anticipated album release. To receive the breaking news about his debut country album, fans should register at his official Web site,

“For this first album, we are definitely going to let the fans know first about all of the details coming out,” he says. “We want them to know just what’s happening with the album and when it’s coming out because they’re the ones who are going to buy the music and they’re the ones who have been following me through this Idol journey.

“I’m really excited to let people hear what we’ve been working on and putting so much effort and energy and time into. It’s something that I’m really proud of. I can’t wait for them to hear it! Hopefully they’ll feel what I was feeling in the studio.”

Starting today, Scotty’s site is also offering an exclusive album pre-order package that includes Scotty’s full-length debut album, an 8×10 photo, a personalized poster and an instant download of his single “I Love You This Big,” as well as a chance to enter a sweepstakes for an ultimate CMA Awards experience that includes a meet-and-greet with Scotty.

“I Love You This Big,” earned the highest debut for a new artist’s first single on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart since at least 1984. The song, which hit the Top 20 in seven weeks, is one of the fastest-rising debut singles for a new country artist in history.

He is currently featured on the American Idols Live Tour that runs through September. He will also perform on ABC’s Good Morning America on Aug. 12 and sings with Josh Turner in the three-hour prime-time concert special, CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock, which airs on ABC on Sunday, Aug. 14.
