Moneypenny is an alluring female electro pop duo born from Chicago’s burgeoning Nu-Indie scene and poised to pop in 2010. Though the group has yet to officially release any music, they’ve licensed three songs to ABC, played Lollapalooza and performed at key tastemakers events in LA, SF, New York and Chicago. They’ve opened for acts like Robyn, La Roux, and Chromeo and have their own established Chicago club night – SPANDEXXX – which has welcomed acts like Miike Snow, Dragonette, The Golden Filter, and more to the Windy City.
Tastemakers in their own right, Moneypenny have partnered with the Chicago-based ColorJar Venture Accelerator (of which Priceline founding member Jeff Hoffman is a partner) to form Loose Change Recordings, a new-model record label/media company celebrating the music, lifestyle and culture of Chicago’s Nu-Indie scene.
Look for Moneypenny’s debut EP this spring/summer via Loose Change, with a number of subsequent releases from great Chicago-based talent to follow. In the meantime, the girls of Moneypenny are dropping a SXSW-inspired mixtape featuring snippets of songs from their forthcoming EP, as well some of their favorite tracks to have come out of the Windy City over the past couple of months. ACM NOMINEE JOEY+RORY
ANNOUNCE NEW STUDIO ALBUM

Husband/Wife Duo Kick Off U.S. Spring Tour With Zac Brown Band!

Nashville, Tenn.  — Husband/Wife duo Joey+Rory have an exciting year planned with a 2010 ACM nomination under their belt already, a U.S. arena tour this spring and the upcoming release of their sophomore album. Set for an early summer release (exact date TBA), the CD is simply titled Album #2 and is produced by legendary, Grammy award-winning producer Carl Jackson who also produced their debut album. That album titled The Life of a Song debuted #10 on the Billboard Country Album Chart and remained on the charts for 50 weeks selling 200,000 copies.

“This is our sophomore album and the title cut is a humorous take on the pressure put on artists when they make their second album,” explains Rory. “Rather than worry about it or avoid it, it’s more our nature to just face it head on, and even find the humor in it.”

Known for bringing beautiful harmonies, authenticity and romance back to country music, the Vanguard/Sugar Hill recording artists will hit the road this spring with Grammy award-winner Zac Brown Band for the “Breaking Southern Ground” tour. Joey+Rory will not only perform but will act as emcee for the tour.

“We’re beyond excited about going on tour with the Zac Brown Band,” says Joey. “Over the last year, we’ve become good friends. They’re the real deal. They don’t compromise. We love that.”

Jakob Dylan Reveals First Track Of “Women and Country”

Posted by The Dead Hub On March - 3 - 2010

Check out Spinner.com to hear the first track “Nothing But the Whole Wide World,” off Jakob Dylan’s sophomore release ‘Women and Country’

More from Spinner: “For his second solo album, ‘Women and Country,’ Jakob Dylan is getting help from a longtime friend, who just happens to be one of the hottest producers in the business — T-Bone Burnett. Though they worked together on the Wallflowers’ 1996 breakout album, ‘Bringing Down the Horse,’ the pair head in a country and folk direction on this album. Dylan’s maturity and versatility as a songwriter is apparent on the album track ‘Nothing But the Whole Wide World,’ which features Neko Case on backing vocals.

“I’ve known Jakob since he was a kid and have followed his evolution with great interest,” Burnett tells Spinner. “When he first sat down with a guitar and played me ‘Nothing But the Whole Wide World,’ it was clear that he had taken several steps forward in his songwriting — that he was writing folk music, which is another way of looking at popular music. I’m so happy to be collaborating with Jakob at this exciting and vital time in his life as an artist, and I think this new album is an important work from a great musician.”"

TAYLOR SWIFT AND BUTCH WALKER’S SENSATIONAL GRAMMYS COLLAB SPAWNED FROM VIRAL VID

This past November, after announcing a residency at LA’s Hotel Cafe, Butch Walker asked fans to request songs he should cover via Twitter. The first night of the residency spawned a fun cover of Swift’s hit, “You Belong With Me,” which was the #1 request from fans. Later that night, Walker recorded his own banjolin-based version of the song, filmed a making-of video and posted the results on his Youtube channel. In less than two days the video (LINK) went viral and resulted in Swift tweeting a link to the video, declaring “@butchwalker covered You Belong With Me and I’m losing my MIND listening to it! Blown away.”

Last night, Butch joined Swift on stage with Stevie Nicks at the GRAMMYS telecast to perform his own stripped down version of the song with her. Watch it:
