LMFAO gets Chicago hyped!

LMFAO 2

As I was walking into the venue, I was skeptical that this concert could be enjoyable. However, their music is less about content and more about hype; I found their performance to be immensely entertaining. Each of their singles such as “I’m in Miami Bitch” and “Shots” were executed at such a high energy level, that it is difficult to find yourself not bobbing along to the beat and reciting their notorious hooks!

Amanda Blank 104

Amanda Blank is awesome! Many are familiar with Amanda as the fiery vixen appearing alongside crowd and critical darlings Spankrock, and as part of the Philly-based pop group Sweatheart. Enlisting the help of uber-produers Diplo, Switch and XXXChange, Amanda Blank has made a record that is light years ahead of what anyone could’ve expected based on her guest appearances thus far. Balancing a razor-sharp wit & vocal dexterity with an unmatched stage presence, this is a woman to watch. Her record includes other such as Spank Rock, Santigold, Lykke Li and the Cool Kids.

Inside the Life of Party Rockers LMFAO

Posted by Christopher Free On November - 23 - 2009

In between taking naps and working on their next album, LMFAO tells us all from the start of the uncle/nephew team to what is in store for future concert goers. Their sold-out tour will be stopping and dropping at over 30 cities across the nation. Did you get your ticket to the party?

lmfao

I was lucky enough to catch LMFAO in between naps on the road to their Saint Louis show before the weekend. The native California duo have also started their own clothing line, exclusively sold at partyrocklife.com. LMFAO can almost always be found wearing something new from the brand. The super chill Red Foo, uncle to Sky Blu, spent some time to talk about the past, present and future of their lifestyle brand: Party rock.

Dead Hub: Well, let’s just start with you guys. What gave you the idea to form a group with a family member?

Red Foo: We’ve always been doing music together for a long time, but we were both solo artists. We did a few tracks together… and then we both took a trip to Miami. I mean, we’re like best friends. We were playing basketball and making music, and after we came back from the WMC, then we just decided to just be groupie’s group!

Singer/Songwriter Tyrone Wells Breezes through Chicago

Tryrone Wells 1

Great show put on by Tyrone Wells this past Saturday, October 10th. I have seen Tyrone in concert countless times over the past 3-4 years, and every show is amazing. Although this past show was great, for some reason not as good as usual. I’m guessing it must have been because he could be a little tired from his tour. He’s been touring almost not stop and performing without a break, and of course it can be draining.

Brandi Carlile at the House of Blues Chicago

Brandie Carlile hob 3

As a part of the (RED) NIGHTS: A Concert Series That Saves Lives, a portion of the proceeds goes to help eliminate AIDS in Africa. With that as an added benefit, if you happen to be familiar with Chicago concert venues then you will understand the shear excitement in attending a show at the House of Blues. I walk in from off of the rainy city street, to a shockingly warm audience that conveniently parts as I make my way to the stage. After a few cordially anticipated moments chatting with Carlile fans, the famous HOB “Quilt” curtain ascends to reveal Brandi Carlile congregated stage center with her band around one mic. Capturing the mood with her folksy, down to earth style and pure raw talent the band begins the night A Capella.

I’ve been a fan Of Chris Daughtry since I first heard him sing “I Walk the Line” on American Idol in 2006. Although he did not win the competition he definitely won the hearts of many across America. Since American Idol, Chris Daughtry formed his rock band “Daughtry.”  The North Carolina based band includes Chris Daughtry – Vocals, Josh Paul – Bass, Joey Barnes -Drums, Brian Craddock – Guitar, and Josh Steely – Guitar.

Day and Night with Kid Cudi

Kid Cudi performed in Chicago at the Congress Theatre on Friday, August 7th, and to say the least he failed to entertain. I was so excited to see his set, and was left disappointed by his subpar performance. The show itself consisted of lots of great DJ’s and performers, such as opener Willy Joy who did an outstanding job, staying animated and energetic for his entire set. Both Amanda Blank and Major Lazer were amazing as well. I particularly liked the latter, since he was highly entertaining and rocked the entire venue . the crowd went nutz for him! Headlining alongside Kid Cudi was Crookers, who were phenomenal as well. But Kid Kudi just sucked and really he just seemed full of himself.
