My Darkest Days is:

Matt Walst – Lead Vocals/Guitar
Brendan McMilan – Bass/Backing Vocals
Doug Oliver – Drums/Backing Vocals
Sal COZ Costa – Guitar/Backing Vocals
LIVE: Reid Henry – Keyboard/Additional Guitar/Backing Vocals

I just discovered My Darkest Days when they opened for Hinder here in Illinois at Austin’s Fuel Room.  I was really reluctant to stay and watch these openers.  They came out with lavish hair and appeared to be a bunch of punks. Mind you, Default had opened the night and no one in the audience could figure out why My Darkest Days was on after Default.  I am glad I stayed to watch… These guys showed the audience who was large and in charge!

Robyn body talk

At the beginning of the year reemerging pop-star, Robyn, announced that she would release three short records. Through out the past year Robyn has slowly crept into the psyche of pop-electro enthusiasts, with Body Talk Part 1 and 2 being released earlier this year and a tour with pop-R&B sure helped. Body Talk is the third and final promise and it’s not just B-sides or scrapped tracks left over from Parts 1+2. [Read more…]

My Darkest Days Austins 6

I walked into Austin’s having no clue who My Darkest Days were. I missed most of Default and was quite bummed.  I for sure thought Default was going on before Hinder and not the actual opening band. Who would have thought right? So a bunch of guys with rockstar hair come out on stage. I saw some people rolling their eyes and muttering, “How can these guys be on AFTER Default?” My Darkest Days showed us! These guys know how to rock. They are reminiscent of 30 Seconds to Mars, but much heavier. [Read more…]

Norah jones featuring cover

It took a couple spins, but …Featuring Norah Jones is officially stuck on me. Yes, stuck on me…ok stuck like glue. Norah Jones gets clever with the title of the album, not so surprising considering the amazing music she creates. The entire …Featuring album is chop-full of duets with artists from Q Tip, Talib Kweli, Foo Fighters, and Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson. It’s eclectic to say the least. [Read more…]

Alter Bridge
ABIII

Release Date: 11/9/2010
Capitol/EMI Records

Alter Bridge is:

Myles Kennedy – Vocals, Guitar
Mark Tremonti – Guitar
Brian Marshall – Bass
Scott Phillips – Drums

Alter Bridge's ABIII is out now!

Alter Bridge is the brainchild of former Creed members; actually it’s all of the members minus Scott Stapp.  ABIII is the third album for these radio rockers whose first album was released back in 2004 under Wind-Up Records.  The album, One Day Remains, was certified GOLD by the infamous RIAA and spurred hits “Open Your Eyes” and “Find the Real.”  It was great times until Alter Bridge wanted to part ways with their label, Wind-Up Records. The band felt that Wind-Up did not share the same vision and direction that the band was going. Mark and Scott ended up using their personal funds to buy themselves out of their deal with the label. Tattoos, Women, Sex, & Tequila = Vince Neil’s New Album

Vince Neil
Tattoos & Tequila
Release Date:  6/22/2010
Label:  Eleven-Seven

Vince Neil’s new album, Tattoos & Tequila, is out today.   In true Vince Neil fashion, the cover has a very sculpted woman in a bikini leaving a pool while Vince is sitting on the sidelines watching her as he drinks tequila.  In short Vince hasn’t strayed from the Mötley Crüe image or music.

The album is nothing less than rock n’ roll.  The album opens with “Tattoos & Tequila.” Of course Vince wants women to show him her tattoos and he’ll let her have some of his tequila.  It’s very rock Mötley Crüe-esque.

This Week’s Featured Artist: Sugar Red Drive

Archit Tripathi- Vocals
Jim Knauss- Guitars
Davey Alexander- Bass
P.J. Gasperini- Drums

sugar red rive cover

Sugar Red Drive really reminds me a bit of Buckcherry. They are some good old rock and roll boys from New York. The band started off as Mercury Rising, but it wasn’t until their original frontman decided to the leave the band to join the army. They searched Myspace for a new singer and found Archit. Like most bands in this situation they changed their name to what we know it as today, Sugar Red Drive.

30 Seconds to Mars Disappoints Record Label

30 Seconds to MarsDespite selling 100,000 albums on their self-titled debut and having their 2005’s “A Beautiful Lie” go platinum, Virgin Records is suing the band for $30 million for failing to deliver a new album on time. That’s a pretty clever number. Do you think that was deliberate? Some big-wig probably thought that was really cute. 30 Seconds? Why don’t we sue for 30 million! Particulars of the band’s punctuality have not been disclosed. The lawsuit states the band “repudiated” a 1999 contract in July. What does that even mean? After touring in 2007, the band has been working on a new album, but apparently it’s not coming along fast enough. 30 Seconds to Mars may just be another victim of the money saving merger with Capitol Records implemented by EMI to reconstruct business to save millions a year. Good for them!
