Avenged Sevenfold

The 2011 Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Tour has come to prove that fans of rock will continue rock hell or, quite literally, high water.

While Uproar had some timing issues, such as gates opening nearly an hour late and already 3 songs into the first set, it was the rain that began minutes after the gate opened that defined the day.  Sweaters on and puddles filling up, fans of every act pounded through the water, the storm seeming to fuel their screams even more.  Surprisingly very few fans were seeking refuge in the Rockstar tent, most choosing instead to take their free drinks stage side where artists commented, “I’m right here with you.”

From the opening of Mindset Evolution through the teary finish of Sevendust, yes, I said teary, fans and bands alike gave their all to the outdoor festival.  Moving indoors Escape the Fate rallied the fans, preparing them for acts to come and getting the most response by far for Avenged Sevenfold, who seemed to be the crowd favorite for the evening.  The Miss Uproar 2011 contest brought back the very intoxicated Art of Dying frontman Jonny Hetherington accompanied by guitarist Greg Bradley to host with members of the remaining bands judging.  The crowd favorite earned the crown, a gulp of Jonny’s Jack and a handful of condoms presented by drummer Robert Ortiz with the promise of “For later, hopefully with me.”

When the lights went down in anticipation of Bullet For My Valentine, Seether, Three Days Grace and Avenged Sevenfold the cheers became louder and louder until they rivaled the opening chords themselves.  It may have been cold, it may have been wet, but the thunderous riot of fans, the echo of the drums, the screams of the singers and the lights of the stage, were more than enough to warm each and every person in attendance.

Three Days Grace

Best Band : Three Days Grace
Band to Skip : Hell or Highwater
Thing to change : VIP tents, these were scattered all over, but always empty despite all of the VIP wristbands floating around.  Refuge seekers were turned away, even though the tents were empty, it seemed like a waste.
Overall Experience : Wet, soggy, fantastic.  Full of energy and high spirits, a show to attend annually.

Standout Moments:

– Sevendust’s LaJon Witherspoon coming to tears as Disturbed frontman and “Good friend” David Draiman stood on stage to watch the performance.

– Adam Gotier of Three Days Grace asking “Can we have some fun?” and promptly beginning a very rocked out version of Eminem’s ‘Lose Yourself’ amid a very indecisive crowd.

– A defining roar of disapproval at the messages “Go Pack Go” and “Brewers Rule” texted across the Tinley Park Megascreen.  And the waves of ‘Awwww’ at the marriage and homecoming proposals that followed.

Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival Set For August 26-October 15 Featuring Triumphant Return Of Avenged Sevenfold, Along With Three Days Grace, Seether, Bullet For My Valentine & More

The annual Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival returns August 26 through October 15 to conquer North America with a massive active rock lineup. Leading the charge is multi-platinum headliner Avenged Sevenfold, making their triumphant return after co-headlining the 2010 debut Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival.

Three Days Grace, Seether and Bullet For My Valentine, along with Escape The Fate will also be featured on this year’s main stage. The touring music and lifestyle festival–which Revolver called “one of the most electric tours of the year” in 2010–also includes the Best Buy Music Gear Stage headliners Sevendust, as well as Black Tide, Art Of Dying and The Black Cloud Collective.

“When we started hearing from our fans they wanted to see us back on UPROAR this year, we thought, last year was a blast so let’s do it again. The fans are crazy and the bands kick ass,” says Avenged Sevenfold‘s frontman M. Shadows. “We’re spending the first half of summer playing some big European festivals so we’re going to be ready to get back home and play America’s top rock festival.”

“We’re thrilled to have Avenged Sevenfold back as headliners,” adds tour producers John Reese and John Oakes. “Their epic stage show helped elevate UPROAR 2010 far beyond the standard outdoor festival. The fans wanted more, and we listened.”

The Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival will entertain fans with a full afternoon and evening of great rock bands and will also include a concourse midway featuring band autograph signings, vendors and other activities. The festival is being produced by John Reese, John Oakes and CAA in conjunction with Live Nation. Look for tour dates, cities and venues to be announced in the coming weeks and go to and for the most up-to-date information on the tour.

The Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival is proud to continue their alliance with Child Find of America, a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to the prevention and resolution of child abduction. In addition, the Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival has joined forces with the Road 2 Recovery Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing AMA licensed professional motocross and supercross riders with financial assistance if they sustain career-ending injuries. The organization also provides motivational, emotional and spiritual support to these individuals and their families.

A portion of the proceeds of each Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival ticket sold will benefit Child Find of America and the Road 2 Recovery Foundation. More information on Child Find of America and the Road 2 Recovery Foundation can be found at
“We’re excited to work with the Road 2 Recovery Foundation, since so many of the UPROAR crew are fans of Motocross or just love to ride,” says Mike Kelso, Marketing Director for Rockstar Energy Drink.

The Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival is made possible through the support of sponsors including Rockstar Energy Drink, Best Buy Music Gear, Ernie Ball, Guitar Player Magazine, Schechter Guitars, Jägermeister Canada, KICKER Performance Audio, Zippo, Vertical-Xtreme, Fearless Music, and No Cover Event Guide, and others.!/rockstaruproar

About The Bands

Avenged Sevenfold’s fifth album, Nightmare, debuted at Number One on the Billboard Top 200 Chart.  The album has spawned two Number One hits on the Mediabase Active Rock Chart with the songs “Nightmare,” which was the most played current song at the format in 2010, and “Welcome to the Family.”  Their current single, “So Far Away,” is following in the footsteps of its predecessors and is quickly climbing the Active Rock and Modern Rock Charts.   Avenged Sevenfold achieved worldwide success with their platinum 2005 breakthrough  City Of Evil, which featured the wildly popular single “Bat Country.” They are the only band to have headlined the Vans Warped Tour and Ozzfest while simultaneously hitting #1 on MTV’s TRL.  In 2006, they won the fan-voted award for Best New Artist for “Bat Country” at the MTV Video Music Awards.  The following year, their self-titled album Avenged Sevenfold sold over a million copies around the world.  Thanks to their spectacular live shows as well as their rabid fan base, the band has become one of the biggest American hard rock bands and continue to sell out arenas worldwide.  This year alone, Avenged Sevenfold will play to more than a million people. Over the course of their career Avenged Sevenfold has built a fanatical fan base resulting in over millions of albums sold worldwide, amassed more than 6.8 million fans on Facebook, and attracted 102 million plays on YouTube.

This past year, Three Days Grace brought their live act to fans with three successful North American tours promoting their latest album Life Starts Now, which debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.  The album spawned three #1 Active Rock songs including “The Good Life,” “World So Cold” and the #1 Song of the Year at Active Rock, “Break.” Overall, Life Starts Now spent the year dominating the Modern, Heritage and Alternative rock radio-airplay charts across industry radio-monitoring services, BDS and Mediabase. Their latest single, “Lost In You,” follows suit and is currently climbing up the charts on Mediabase and BDS.

Seether’s fourth album, Holding Onto Strings Better Left To Fray, out May 17 on Wind-Up Records, was produced by the legendary Brendan O’Brien (Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Rage Against The Machine).  The offering features the #1 rock single “Country Song,” and showcases songwriter and frontman Shaun Morgan’s ability to successfully meld raw emotional lyrics with intensely melodic elements of heavy metal, post-grunge and alternative rock.  The tongue-in-cheek companion video for “Country Song” can be seen here: South African natives Seether debuted on the scene in 2002, have sold nearly 4 million units to date worldwide, and have become an impressive presence on the worldwide touring circuit, averaging more than 275 performances per year.

Bullet For My Valentinecontinue to tour and support their 2010 Top 3 release Fever and the follow up deluxe Fever Tour Edition CD/DVD, released in February. Fever Tour Edition features three new songs recorded live at XFM radio in the UK. The current single and title track “Fever” continues to climb at rock radio. Bullet For My Valentine were just nominated for three Kerrang! Awards including Best Single (“Your Betrayal”), Best Live and Best British Band. “The guys and I are really looking forward to this one,” says lead singer and guitarist Matthew Tuck. “The line up is brilliant and it is always great to play with friends.”

Known for their incendiary live shows, Escape The Fate has been relentlessly touring in support of their recent self-titled album (DGC/Interscope Records) that debuted at #4 on the Billboard Rock album chart, #3 on the Billboard Alternative chart and #1 on the Billboard Tastemakers Chart and features the singles “Issues” and “Gorgeous Nightmare.”  Revolver proclaimed, “Escape The Fate made an album that treads the tightrope between good times and introspection, between rollicking rock, raging post-hardcore, and tender balladry,“ and Outburn declared “the band’s new album is a compelling modern day masterpiece.”

Sevendust–featuring the group’s original lineup–is touring in support of their eighth studio album Cold Day Memory, which was released April 20, 2010 on their own 7Bros. Records, through Warner Music Group’s Independent Label Group.  The limited edition CD/DVD debuted #12 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart, marking the highest debut of the band’s 15 year career.

After a non-stop rollercoaster of touring in support of its 2008 debut Light From Above–which saw Black Tide participate in the first-ever Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, tour the U.S. with Avenged Sevenfold, play the main stage at Ozzfest 2008, and light up the Vans Warped Tour 2009–Black Tide’s dynamic second album for DGC/Interscope, Post Mortem, is set to hit stores August 23, 2011.

Vancouver-based rock band Art Of Dying released their debut album Vices and Virtues March 22 on Disturbed’s newly minted Reprise imprint, Intoxication Records.

The Black Cloud Collective is a new band from Atreyu drummer Brandon Saller who is eager to be a part of the UPROAR Festival.  The debut album from The Black Cloud Collective will be available Summer 2011.
