A COLLECTION OF WORK BY REKNOWNED PUBLIC TELEVISION FILMMAKER AL JARNOW TO INCLUDE 45 FILMS, ONE DOCUMENTARY AND A 60 PAGE BOOK.

Al Jarnow may not be a household name, but if your childhood consisted of watching PBS television series such as Sesame Street, 3-2-1 Contact and Infinity Factory, you’ve seen his films. Tens of millions of children and adults have viewed his stop motion, time lapse, and cel animation masterpieces over the last 40 years. For the first time, all 45 individual films have been restored and color corrected to original 16MM prints with re-mastered audio in Dolby Digital, delivered in a beautifully crafted DVD package.

From 1968 to 1997 Al Jarnow had captured life’s scientific minutia and boiled it down for easy consumption between cookie eating monsters and counting vampires. Wandering beyond the confines of educational programming, Al Jarnow delved into New York’s avant-garde film scene alongside Harry Smith, Jonas Mekas and Stan Brakhage to create a body of awe-inspiring films that remain in the collections of MOMA and Pompidou Center. Numero Group has compiled these films along with a 30-minute documentary on Jarnow’s creative process from the third floor of his Long Island home. The Deluxe Package includes a 60-page book loaded with essays, ephemera, storyboards, photos, and a complete film index.

Screenings and director Q&A sessions are scheduled for Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, and Austin for February and March.
