It was a night full of energy, painted faces, and girls wearing next to nothing. It was also the third night of the Strange Noize Tour brought to the streets by Suburban Noize Records. The Anaheim stop was sold out and as we waited to get in there were groups of fans hoping someone would sell their ticket. Standing patiently in the parking lots was a couple that said to us they had been there 4 hours hoping for tickets. The moral of this little story, if you don’t have tickets yet and contemplating going, buy them now!

(HED) PE

The party was started when (HED) PE hit the stage. It’s also when things were starting to get roudy. The crowd grew bigger as they all came for Tech N9NE and the Kottonmouth Kings. Jahred Shane during the set would stop between songs to tell the crowd “the truth.” He spoke out against the government and all their biases. (HED) PE is not just an ordinary punk rock band, they are Southern California’s answer to puck that clearly has a political message attached to the band. (HED) PE warmed up the crowd for the big hitters that were next. Their set felt very short or maybe it was because all their songs are about 1 minute in length. Either way it was drastically shorter than TECH N9NE’s and the Kottonmouth Kings.

TECH N9NE

Tech N9NE put on a high energy show that had the entire crowd moving. I was even moving to it when shooting video. I apologize ahead of time for the unsteady hand on the camera for TECH N9NE. I just couldn’t help myself.

‘The backdrop was simple with off white curtains with a hige black sign with red lettering of TECH N9NE KILLER on it. That’s all they needed because they entertained the crowd the entire set, which I didn’t get to write down.

One fascinating thing to see was the mass exodus after TECH N9NE left the stage. I had to ask if the show ended because of the sheer amount of people leaving the venue. I walked up to a security guard and asked what was going on. He said, “TECH N9NE has loyal fans that are only here to see TECH N9NE.” Even with the mass exodus of fans, the Grove was still packed and roudy fans stayed for their favorite Kottonmouth Kings.

Kottonmouth Kings

As I was in the barricade doing my video thing I could feel the intensity and excitement in the crowd as we all waited for the Kings to take the stage. The stage was stripped of all monitors leaving all band members free to roam the massive stage.

It felt like it wasn’t even into the first minute of the first song when the crowd pushed to the front and I could hear people getting crushed by the metal bars on the barricades. I had security behind me as I was pressed against the stage to pull the smaller Kottonmouth Kings fans out of the crowd. This all happened as one of the band members was shooting fire from his mouth. It was insane, but made for great stories and a great night of entertainment. It was also amuzing to watch Sen Dog and the Kings onstage because just a few days before Cypress Hill played a Benefit concert in Chicago where another one of our editors met up with Sen Dog. If you get chance to see this tour while it’s in your town Strange Noize is something to check out. It’s great music to get you moving, and I can almost guarantee you will walk out of the venue with at least one great story. Plus, the people watching it amazing!

FYI: Those who are attending, keep you eyes peeled in the lobby. You never know who you might run into! The guys from (HED) PE strolled around and had drinks with some of their fans. They are great guys and were a pleasure meeting.
