A $25,000, solid bronze, 14-karat gold plated, custom casket has been ordered for Michael Jackson.

The casket was ordered last night from Batesville Casket Company. It’s called a Promethean and will feature a flame blue velvet interior and a hand-polished, mirror finish.

“Blowing from the Windy City is a young lady with lovely eyes and a beautiful smile and a great set of pipes. I have seen the future of rock ‘n’ kroll – Her name is Janelle” – Paul Kramer, Editor “Hit Sheet Magazine”

Whether it’s performing for fans in Chicago, writing and recording songs or traveling the nation with Macy’s Ragged Road documentary series, Janelle Kroll continues to win over music lovers with her dynamic personality and pop music sensibilities.

Kroll, a music theater major at Northwestern University, has been on the bill at SPACE, opened for Matthew Santos and Theresa Andersson, Bill’s Blues, Uncommon Ground, and 1800 Club. She also landed a spot at the Z100 party at the Apple Soho store in NYC with her Ragged Road pals.

Tracks off Kroll’s debut EP reveal a unique blend of singer/songwriter simplicity and pop refinement, akin to artists like Alicia Keys, Jewel, and Dusty Springfield. Her latest single, “Fools Gold,” slinks along with a sultry, unexpected power. Kroll’s signature vocals melt over the sparse, warming organ chords and soft brush of a drum kit. Coupled with blues-infused vocal harmonies, the bare-bones composition resonates with poignant force. The song highlights not only Kroll’s unique vocal talent, but also her love for meticulously crafted songs, fusing rock, blues, and pop with soulful, beguiling lyrics.

In a recent interview with The Daily Northwestern, the singer-songwriter elaborated on her desire to make music her life’s work. “During [my] junior year an indie label offered to sign me but I would have been just a singer, not a songwriter, so I didn’t take it, and ultimately it was the right decision because I’m happy with where I am now.”

Today, Janelle Kroll stands poised to bring her positive energy and winning music to the masses. Bottom line: she wants to connect with people through her passion for song.

Well, Michael’s unexpected custody challenge has come true! Debbie Rowe will fight for custody of Paris and Michael Jr. According to NBC 4 in LA Rowe said during a 90-minute phone conversation, “I want my children.” Rowe says she will seek a restraining order to keep Joe Jackson away from the children. Rowe also says she’ll submit to a DNA test to prove she’s the biological mother. This should be good!

Popular Musician Shares Her Essential Music Picks
in “You Must Hear This” Series and as Guest DJ

June 29, 2009, Washington, D.C. – The day before her latest album is released, visionary artist Björk joins both NPR’s All Things Considered and All Songs Considered to share some of her favorite music. The Icelandic singer is featured in the “You Must Hear This” segment tonight on All Thing’s Considered talking about Syrian pop-electronic artist Omar Souleyman, and then guest DJs during a special installment of NPR Music’s All Songs Considered program.

“You Must Hear This” is a new series on All Things Considered that features artists of all genres discussing the music that influences their own work, and what makes a true classic. Björk’s selection for the series is Syrian musician Omar Souleyman. Similar to her eclectic and complex music, Souleyman’s sound is an amalgamation of several styles. His music combines Arabic mawal-style vocalization, high-octane Syrian Dabke (the region’s party music), Iraqi Choubi and a swirl of Arabic, Kurdish and Turkish music. The result is overdriven Arabic keyboard solos and frantic rhythms played at break-neck speeds.
