Canadian singer Keisha Chante is to play Aaliyah in the upcoming biopic movie that will release sometime next year. A star in the R&B world before she was even out of her teens, Aaliyah’s promising career was tragically cut short by her shocking death in a plane crash at age 22. Aaliyah was on location in the Bahamas to film a video for ”Rock the Boat.” On August 25, she and several members of the crew boarded a small twin-engine Cessna plane returning to the mainland. The plane crashed shortly after takeoff, exploding on impact. Aaliyah and seven other passengers were killed instantly, and the ninth later died at a Nassau hospital. Investigations into the crash showed that the plane had been loaded far past its weight capacity and that pilot Luis Morales had recently been arrested for crack cocaine possession (traces of which, along with alcohol, were found in his system). The charter company, Blackhawk International Airways, had not authorized him to pilot the craft in question. As details continued to emerge from the plane crash investigation, Aaliyah’s parents filed suit against Blackhawk Airways, Virgin Records, and several other companies.
While many fans are hatin’ on Keisha I think the casting director did a great job! I have been looking up various photos of Keisha & Aaliyah and it’s uncanny how similar they look alike. I love Aaliyah & remember exactly where I was & what I was doing when I heard about her untimely death. Personally I can’t wait to see this movie. Aaliyah was truly an inspiration & had much to offer the R&B scene & the big screen.

Aaliyah is the best yo! I was like 11 or 12 when I heard she died.This movie better be the shit or else I promise to come after every that made this movie!I’m still crying that she died so young and beatiful.I wake up everyday and sing everyday like her.I love you Aaliyah and you are missed dearly;>)

Keshia chante will not be playing aaliyah its all false!! she audition for the part but didnt get it.drew sidora will be playing aaliyah..google it and u will see she even talks about it in a video drew got the part not keshia chante!!! the movie is curently in the works.and will be out late next year

Why did they pick someone like Keisha Chante to play Aaliyah? I can’t stand Keisha Chante. She isn’t everything that Aaliyah isn’t…and I mean that in a bad way. This lil girl is such a little diva and she has such stank attitude. She is just like everything other sorry female artist out there. Trynna be something tha you’re not. This gir tries soooo hard to be and look like Aaliyah. She wishes to be Aaliyah. And now here she is playing as Aaliyah in the movie. I bet she is only taking up this role so it will make her more famous. I highly doubt she is doing this from the heart.

Aaliyah was my favorite R&B artist, and one of the freshest swaggers of all times for a young female Star. I truly adored her, could relate to her style and her music stories. She passed away on the same day and time as my father, another favorite person in my life. I will never forget that night, a double whammy on my heart, a double loss in my life that day. I will never forget Aaliyah, a true shining star, so special, so unique, Angel in life, Angel in the light. Miss you so much Aaliyah!!! Never will forget you. Peace be with you now.
